First,aheadlinesummarizesanewsstorywiththemostimportantandattractivewords.Areaderusuallydoesn'thavetimeforeverypieceofnewsthat'sprinted.Withtheguidanceofterseheadlines,readerscanquicklyfindthepartstheywanttoread.

Second,itsparklesthewholepage.Onecanimaginehowsuffocativeanewspapercouldbeiftherewerenotasingleheadlineanddozensofnewsstoriesjustpiledup.Third,itbeautifiestheformofedition.Headlinesaregooddecorationtothepageastheyappearinvarioussizesandtypefaces.

attention.

2.Grammaticalfeaturesofheadlines
