   Tahay'selderbrother,Elmer,persuadedhertogototheafter-schoolpoetryclub.Inthelastsixyears,herEnglishteacherLaurieKurnickhasturnedClevelandCharterHighSchool'spoetryprogramintooneofthemostrespectedinthecity.HerteamdrawsfromthelikesofD.H.Laurence,PatMoraandKendrickLamartocreatepoemsabouttheirownlives.Thepoemsfocusonmanythings—somefunny,somepainful.
