istudiedenglisheducashionatmycollege.ichosethismajorjustbecauseitstuitionwasnothighatthattime.thenhalfayearbeforemygraduationicametoshandongtobeanenglishteacher.farawayfrommyhometown.thenihavelivedherefor7yearsandtaughtfor7yearstoo.iloveteaching.ilovetalkingtomystudents.

howdoienjoymyselfwithmystudents?

idon’tthinkicanexpresshowilovemystudentsinafews.ijustknow,theyarethefutureofchina;theyareinfinityinmyhand.whatcouldidowiththem?

towait,tobepatient,toexpectandtolove.fromthem,everyteachermustseetheirfuture,teachingandguidingthemresponsibly.

i’mverygladandexcitedthatihaveachancelikethistosharemyownexperienceofteachingwithyou.

thetopicofmytoday’slectureisbettertoteachamanfishingthantogivehimafish----cultivatinggoodstudyinghabitsofstudentsinenglishteaching.

schooleducationisveryimportantanduseful.thestudentsnotonlylearnknowledgebutalsogetaneducation.yet,noonecanlearneverythingatschool.thescientists,suchasedison,newton,galileoandeinstein,didnotlearneverythingatschool.theylearnedalotofknowledgeoutsideschoolorpracticebythemselves.ateacher,evenheknowsalot,can’tteachhisstudentseverything.ourjobistoshowourstudentshowtolearn,howtoreadandhowtothink.agoodteacherwithrichexperienceinteachingcanteachhisstudentsthemethods(ways)ofstudy.throughthesemethodsthestudentsareabletolearnandgetalotofthingsbythemselves.

sinceibecameanenglishteacherovertenyearsago,ihavehadadefiniteteachingthought:

thehabitofpreviewingactivelybeforeclass;thehabitoflisteningintensivelyinclass;thehabitofreviewingcarefullyafterclass;thehabitofpletinghomeworkindependently;thehabitofthinkingdeeplyandactively;thehabitofmakingnotesduringreadingoutofclass;andgoodhabitsofreadingaloud,memorizing,reciting,etc.thosehabitsshouldcontributetoassimilatingenglishknowledgetheyhavelearnedintotheirownones,andpromotingtheirabilitiesoflistening,speaking,reading,andwritingallround.so,asenglishteachers,wemustbegoodatcultivatinggoodstudyinginterestofstudents,enablethemtodevelopgoodstudyinghabitsandmakeenglishstudyingcontinuefortheirlife.

thefirstishowtopreviewbeforeclass.icallformystudentstopreviewwellbeforeclasswhichwillbelearnednextclass.fornewsandphrasesintext,studentsshouldnotonlypracticespellingbutalsounderstandtheirmeaningsaccordingtosentencesandcontext.fortextsanddialogues,studentsmayunderstandthemthroughtheuseofnotes,referencebooksordictionariesathand,searchingtopicparagraphorsentence,thentrydoingexercisesafterclass.ofallthesecanhelpthemtofindproblemsorquestionsaswellasmasterthepointsthatareimportantanddifficultintext,whichmightlightenthepressureofstudentsinnewclasses.thisisakindofgoodstudyinghabitandofmethodavailableoftrainingtheabilitytoteachthemselves.weshouldcallforourstudentstolastforpracticinginaconsistentway.indoingso,goodstudyinghabitscanbedevelopedultimately.
