1.IntroductiontoTheCADFileConverterforIGESFormat

IfyouhaveanyCADsoftwarewhichgeneratesIGESformattedfiles,TheCADFile

ConverterforIGESFormatconvertsthosefilesintospecificformatsforROBOGUIDE,

andviceversa.

SpecificformatsforROBOGUIDEare:

（1）F2Dformatthattransmits2-dimensionalformdata

（2）F3Dformatthattransmits3-dimensionalformdata

4.1.SettingConversionMode

4.2.SettingConversionParameters

Tosee/changeConversionParameters,click"Parameters"buttononthemainpanel（atbottom）.

（A）Entitiesoffiguredata

ThisconcernsconversionsettingsforeachelementoffiguredatainIGESformattedfile.Defaultsettingis"NORMAL"asshownabove.

Eachelementhassuchattributeas"Independent"or"Dependent."Usually,TheCADFileConverterconcerns"Independent"elementsonconversion."Dependent"elementsareconvertedonlyiftheirparentelementsare"Independent".ElementswithwhichTheCADFileConverterdealsarelistedin"5.Notes."Notethateventhelistedelementsmaynotconvertediftheyare"Dependent"andtheirparentsarenotlisted.Inordertoconvertsuchelements,youmustchoosesomeotherspecificparametershownbelowthanthedefaultone.

Whenyouchooseotherparameterthan"NORMAL,"youmustrealizesometypesofinformationwillbelost.Forexample,suchinformationasconnection,featurevalues,andothergeometricalinformationbetweenfigures;e.g.relationbetweenaTrimmedSurfaceEntity（Type144）andthesurfaceentitythatistobetrimmed.

Convertsatrimmedsurfaceentity（Type144）only,regardlessofdependencyattribute.

（B）NumberofDivision

OnconvertingsuchfigureslikeCircularArcs,Curvedlines,andSurfaces,intoF2D/F3Dformat,TheCADFileConverterapproximatesthembystraightlinesorplainsurfaces.Atthispoint,TheConverterappliesthisparametertotheoriginalfigures.

Itsdefaultsettingis12.

（C）Version

ChoosetheversionnumberofIGESformat.Defaultsettingis"V5.0".Youshouldchoose"CADAM"onlyifyourIGESfileisfromCADAM.

（D）ACL

Thisistheprecisionparameteronconvertingfigureelements.Defaultsettingis0.5.

（E）Thickness

TomakeROBOGUIDEpossibletotestinterferenceanddisplayonreadingconverteddata,youmustspecifyeithertypeofprocessing.Defaultsettingis“NO”process.

（G）ObjectDivide

Ifyouchoose“YES”fordividingobjects,theconvertermakessomeobjectsintheF3D

file.PossibleDividingactionsareshownasfollows.

・Independentelements[402-form7]and[408]areconvertedobjectseachother.

　・OtherallIndependentelementsareconvertedassame（one）object.

4.3.SettingSourceFileforConversion

Youmustspecifytheoriginalfile,beforeyoustartconversion.

TheSource（original）Filesettingispossiblebyeitherways:

（1）Typefilepathnameinthe“OriginalFile”box.onthemainpanel

（2）Clickthe"Ref"（Reference）buttonrighttotheOriginalFilebox.Thenthefile

browsingdialogboxisappearedasshownbelow.YoumaychoosetheOriginal

SourceFileusingthisdialogbox.

*OperationforthisdialogboxisthesameasthatforgeneralWindowsopenfile

dialogbox.

*OnceyouchoosetheOriginalSourceFile,alsotheDestinationConvertFileisset

tothesuitablefilename.IfyouaregoingtochangetheDestinationConvertFile,

seethenexttopic（4.4）.

4.4.SettingDestinationFileforConversionResult

IfyouaregoingtochangetheDestinationConvertedFile,YoumustspecifytheDestinationfilename.

Aswrittenin4.3,theDestinationConvertedFileissettothesuitablenameastheSourceFile.YoumayspecifyTheDestinationFilesettingbyeitherways:

（1）Typefilepathnameinthe“ConvertFile”boxonthemainpanel

（2）Clickthe"Ref"（Reference）buttonrighttothe“ConvertFile”box.Thenthefile

browsingdialogboxisappearedasshownbelow.YoumaysettheDestination

Fileusingthisdialogbox.

4.5.AbouttheNamingRuleofResultFiles

Convertedfilesarenamedautomaticallyusingtheiroriginalfilenamesbychangingtheirfilenameextensions.Extensionchangingrulesareasfollows:

（1）IGEStoF2D:

extensionischangedinto".f2d"

（2）IGEStoF3D:

extensionischangedinto".f3d"

（3）F2DtoIGES:

extensionischangedinto".igs"

（4）F3DtoIGES:

extensionischangedinto".igs"

4.6.PerformingFileConversion

Toperformfileconversion,clickthe"DoConv"buttonatthebottomofthemainpanel.Thisoperationstartsfileconversion.

Itisrecommendedthatyouconfirmthosesettings-ConversionMode,ConversionParameters,theSourceFile,andtheDestinationFile-beforeyouclickthisbutton.

Duringconversionprocess,themessagedialogshownbelowisdisplayed.

Whenconversionisperformednormally,themessagedialogshownbelowisdisplayed.

Whenconversionendedwithabnormalstatus,suchmessagedialogshownbelowisdisplayed.

AnerrormaybereportedifTheCADFileConverterencountersabnormalstatus;e.g.yoursettingoffoldersisproblematic,or,originalfileshaveproblemsconcerningtheirdesignatedformats.Errorreportingmaybemadeeachtimeanoriginalfileisgoingtobeconverted.Onceanerroristrapped,conversionfortheoriginalfileiscancelledandsuchmessagedialogappearsasshownabove.

IfIGESformattedfileistheoriginal,rememberTheConvertercontinuesconversionevenwhenitencounterserrorsinprocessingelementsoffiguredata;e.g.,itencounterselementswhicharenotsupported,or,calculationerrorduringelementsconversion.Suchabnormalelementsareneglected.

Alternately,errorsfoundinprocessingelementsoffiguredataarerecordedintheLogFilefortheoriginalfile.LogFileiscreatedintheDestinationFolder.
