Thereforetheydon'treallyconstituteacommunity,becauseattheweekend,whenthesociallifeusedtobeatitsmostactive.nowittendstosinkandgoquiet.Andanawfullotofthenewdocksestatesandareasaredesertedatweekends.Andyou'vegotnothinganymore.Infactit'slikeaghosttown.WhenDocklandswasreallythrivingmanyyearsagoandthey,theyusedtohavewholeestatesandrowsandstreetsofhouseswhichwerealldockersorrelatedindustries,allthepeoplelivedthere,theyhadaveryclose-knitcommunityspirit.Andtheycertainlyusedtomakealltheirownentertainment,anawfullotofit;andtheyusedtoorganisetrips-youknow,daysdowntotheseasideandthingslikethat.

Certaindocksusedtohavetheirownsocialclubs,forinstance,wherethey'dhavedancesonSaturdaynightsandthings,andvariouspartiesforthechildren.

there'sanotherdoor-orthefacadeofanotherhouse,perhaps.Atthesideofthehouse,totheleftandbelowtheslopingrock,there'saflatareaandthefamilyseemstobeusingitasapatio.Anyway,they'vegotchairsthere,andonepersonappearstobeservingfood.They'rewearingcasualsummerclothesandthey'reprobablyquitepoorbecauseIdon'timaginethatthehouseisveryluxurious.

Furthertotheleftandbelowthepatioareaisanotherchimney,whichpresumablybelongstoadifferent,lowercavedwelling.Em,inthebackground,alongwayfromthisparticularrock,there'sanotherrangeofhills.Then,betweenthetwopoints,there'sarelativelyflatplain-oraplateau,I'mnotquitesure-andthenthere'sasmalltown.Itlookslikeatownbecausetherearealotofwhitehousesandeachoneisquiteclosetothenextbuilding.Thismustbeahotcountrybecausetheskyisblueandthereisn'tmuchvegetation.Ishouldthinkthecavedwellingsareactuallyreallycoolandpleasanttolivein.
