SPRIK）isacross-disciplinaryandcross-institutionalresearchprojectfocusingoncorpus-basedcontrastivelanguagestudies（Norwegian,English,

French,German）,especiallyinformationstructureatdifferentlevels.TheSPRIKprojecthastheover-archingstrategicaimofenhancinglinguisticresearchinNorwaywithincontrastivelinguistics,stylistics,andsemantics/pragmatics,aswellaslinguisticallyorientedtranslationstudies.

CentraltotheprojectisresearchontheOsloMultilingualCorpus（OMC）.Suchparallellcorporarepresentaninvaluablesourceofinsightintotheinterplayofvariousfactorsthatdetermineinformationstructureinalanguagewhilealsosheddinglightonthecross-linguisticvariationinthestructuringofsentencesandtext.Throughcontrastivestudiesofauthenticlanguageincontext,theprojectaimstoprovidenewinsights,methodologicalrenewalandempiricallybasedtheorydevelopment.Insightsgainedfromtheresearchprojectwillalsoberelevanttoappliedfieldssuchastranslationandforeignlanguageteaching.
