Abstract.Inrecentyears,withqualityeducationattachedgreatimportanceto,familyeducationhasbecomeahottopicofsocialconcern.ThereareobviousdifferencesinfamilyeducationbetweenChinaandWesterncountries.ForChinaandtheUnitedStates,differentconceptsofeducationandthewaysofeducating,resultedintheobviousdifferencewhentheirchildrenhasgrownup.ThearticleattemptstoanalyzethedifferencesinChineseandWesternfamilyeducation,andthecausesofformingthedifferences.Besides,itprovidesaconducivefamilyeducationalrecommendations.

Introduction.

Familyeducationindicatestheinfluencetothedevelopmentofchildrenintheprocessofcommunicatingbetweenparentsandachild.Itisalsothemostimportantoneamongallthewaysofeducation.Inviewofmanydifferencesinculture,economy,familybackground,educatedways,henceitresultsintheobviousdifferenceinfamilyeducationbetweenChinaandWesterncountries.Torecognizethefactcorrectlywillpromotethedevelopmentoffamilyeducationinourcountry.ForChinesefamilies,whattheyfocusonis“order”and“obedience”,whiletheypayattentionto“fairness”and“freedom”inWest.Chineseparentsaredominatorswhocontroltheirchildren,thuswhatthechildrenonlydoistoacceptallthearrangedthingssubmissively.Parentsalwaysdecidetheirchildren’snaturaldevelopment.Consequently,theyhavedeprivedoffreeagencyofchildren.However,inWesterncountries,parentsoftenfocusonchildren’sdecision-makingpower.Underthepermittedcircumstancesbysociety,childrenisallowedtheproblemtheyhavemet.

1.Chinesefamilys’waysofeducating.

1.1Onstudying

Chineseparentspayaspecialattentiontotheirchildren‘sachievementinlearning.Nomatterwhattheirchildrenwant,theywillsatisfychildren’salltheneedsonlyischildrencangetaperfectperformanceinexamination.Therefore,indailylife,childrenaredemandedtoreading,practiceandlearning.Asaresult,theirgeniusareignored.Parentslimitchildren’screativity.Consequently,inordertocultivatetheso-calledgeniusbutsnuffoutarealgenius.Besides,Chinesefamilyeducation,theinculcatededucationwhichaskschildrentorecitesomeexperiencedknowledgewithoutanycomprehension.Thusitleadstokillthechildren’simaginationandcreativity.Atthesametime,Chinesechildrenislackingofoperatingbyhand.

1.2Onlife

Atfirst,whatmostofChineseparentsisalwaysthinkingishowtoprotecttheirownchild,whenhischildquarrelsevenfightswithothers.Eveniftheyknowtheirchildrenhavemadeamistake,theystilltrytohavetheirchildrengotridoftheresponsibility.Underthiscondition,theconflictsisoftenraisedbetweenthetwosidesofparents.Besides,inChina,itisthecommonfactthatparentshelptheirchildrenwashclothes,makeabed,etc.Theyevenwanttohelptheirchildrenresolveanyproblemsthattheirchildrenhavefaced.Theydotetheirchildrenandafraidthembeingsufferedandtired.Finally,manyparentswillsatisfytheirchildrenanyeconomicneeds,withouthesitationandlimits,evenifthefamilyispoor,letalonewhattherichdo.Asaresult,childrenhavenoawarenessofsavingmoneyinlife,becausetheythinkitcanbeacquiredeasily.Daybyday,childrentakeitforgrantedthattheirparentsgivethemmoneyforeverandwithoutanyrequirements.Ihadeverseenanews“Itissaidthatasonkilledhismother,onlybecausethemotherdidn’tgivehimenoughmoneytoplaynetgames.”Whataastonishednews!

Wecanseesomeeducationalproblemsfromitthatspoilwilleventuallleadtobitterfruit.

1.3Ontherelationshipbetweenchildrenandparents

Inchina,parentsalwayssaysomethinglikethese,“Youmust…,Youhaveto…,Youshould…”.Intheirviews,childrenistheirprivateproperty.Theycantreattheirchildreninanywaywhattheywanttotake.Besides,childrenhavefewaccesstocommunicatewiththeirparents.Atthesametime,aschildrenafraidtheirparents,littlebylittle,reversepsychologyappeared.Thusmaymakechildrendevelopthemselvesundertheconditionofdepartingthenormalorbit.BasedonthetwopointsIhavementioned,agaphaveemergedbetweenparentsandchildren.Childrenaren’twillingtotelltheirtruethoughttotheirparents.Actuallyspeaking,itisbadforchildren’sdevelopment.

ForChina,ononehand,backwardeconomics,pressuredsurvival,a“Degreeofsocial”whosethemobilityofindustryisnotverygood.Asaresult,Chineseoftenwanttodevotetheirwholelifetotheonejob.Ontheotherhand,socialpensioninsuranceinChinaisnotperfect.Parentsconsidertheirchildren’educationfromtheperspectiveofpersonalpension.However,inwesterncountries,especiallytheUnitedStates,theadvancedproductiveforces,developedeconomic,smallpressureonthesurvival.What’smore,Americaisa“Abilityofsocial”.Ithassoundemploymentmechanism,andthemobilityofindustryisgood.Economicconditionsaregood,soundendowmentinsurance,parentsdonotthinkraisingchildrenistosupportthem.Theyhavenoworries,aslongasthechildis18yearsold,andbecameanpersonwhohasresponsibilityandcompassion,theparentshavefulfilledtheirobligations.

5.2Thedifferentbackgroundofhistoryculture.
