Brown’sOpenCurriculumisdesignedforthestudentwhotakesunusual

initiativeanddemonstratesunusualindependence.Thiscouldbepartofthe

reasonwhytransfersroutinelydosowellatBrownbothacademicallyand

socially.Italsomightexplainwhysomanyofourmostfamousalumnioriginally

cametoBrownafterayear-or-twoatanotherinstitution.

Brownwelcomesbetween100and200transferstudentstocampuseachyear,

andtransfersconstituteanimportantandsignificantpartofourcampus

community.Wearehappytohaveyouhere.

Brownadmitstransfersintwocohorts:

onegroupwillenrollatBrownin

thefollowingfallsemesterandanothergroupwillenterinthefollowingspring

semester.Althoughtherearetwopossiblesemestersofentrythereisonlyone

transferadmissionprocessperyear,andthedeadlinetosubmitthetransfer

applicationeveryyearisMarch1.

Brownadmitstransferswhowillbegintheirtimeatthecollegeas

first-semestersophomores,second-semestersophomoresandfirst-semester

juniors.Alltransfersmustsuccessfullycompleteaminimumoffoursemesters

and15coursesatthecollegeinordertoearntheirundergraduatedegree.

First-or-second-semestersophomoreswhoareadmittedtoBrownforthe

springaregiventheoptionofremainingattheircurrentcollegeinthe

followingfallorspendingthatsemesterstudyingabroadthroughoneofthree

Brown-sponsoredstudyabroadprogramsinSpainandtheUnitedKingdom.Typically

alittlemorethanhalfofallspringsemestertransfersstudyabroadthrough

Browninthesemesterpriortotheirenrollment.

一个申请，两次注册

布朗大学分两批招收转校生：

第一批在秋季学期注册，第二批在春季学期注册。

虽然有两个学期可以入学，但是每年只有一次转学招生工作。

EligibilityRequirements

ApplicantswhosubmittransferapplicationstoBrowninthespringof202X

willonlybeeligibletoapplyiftheywillhavecompletedatleastoneyearof

full-timecollegeenrollmentbeforeSeptember202X.

Universityrulesstipulatethatanyoneadmittedasatransfermustbe

enrolledfull-timeatBrownforatleastfoursemesterspriortoearningtheir

undergraduatedegree.Forthisreasonwediscouragetransferapplicationsfrom

studentswhowillhaveaccruedmorethanfoursemestersofcollegeworkpriorto

theirenrollmentatBrown.

Highschoolstudentswhoarecurrentlyenrolledindual-degreeprogramsor

earlycollegeprogramsareineligibletoapplyastransfers.Thesestudentsmay

onlyapplyasfirst-yearapplicants.

Studentswhohavealreadycompletedabachelor’sdegreeatanothercollege

areineligibletoapplyastransfers.

ApplicantsfromBritishuniversitiesmusthavecompletedayearormoreof

theirundergraduateeducationpriortoapplying.Wewillmakeexceptionstothis

ruleforapplicantsfromBritishuniversitiesthatprovidegradedfall-semester

transcriptsfortheirstudents.

TestingRequirements

Brownrequiresthattransferapplicantssubmittheresultsofeitherthe

SATortheACTwhentheyapply.Thisappliestobothdomesticandinternational

applicants.Onlyonegroupofapplicantsarepermittedtoapplywithout

submittingSATorACTscores:

AmericancitizensorU.S.permanentresidents

applyingfromdomesticcommunitycolleges,juniorcollegesortwo-year

colleges.

Englishlanguageproficiencymustbeachievedbeforeyouareadmitted.

BrowndoesnotoffercoursesinEnglishasaSecondLanguageforits

undergraduatesanddoesnotaccept,onaprovisionalbasis,studentswhoare

deficientinEnglish.Wehighlyrecommendthatinternationalapplicantstakethe
