雅思口语考试标准和高中英语口语教学@#@Acknowledgements@#@Itisafteralongprocessofselectingthetheme,readingandreflectingonrelevanttheories,designingquestionnairesandconductingsurveysthatIhavefinallycompletedthethesis.SinceItooktheIELTStestinDecember2014,Ihavebeenkeenonapplyingthestandardintomyteachingpractice,whichleadsmetowriteaboutthistopic.Inthewritingprocess,Ihaveexperiencedmorepuzzleandfrustrationthanjoyandsurprise.Itwouldbeimpossibleformetofinishthispaperwithouttheassistanceofmysupervisor,mycolleaguesandmystudents.@#@WordfailsmetoexpressmygratitudetoassociateProfessorLiWenge,mysupervisor,whohasbeeninspiringandencouragingmewithoutreservation.ChoosingthetopicandwritingaboutIELTSischallengingandundoubtedlyIhavefacedvariousobstacles.However,Mr.Lihasbeenaninsightfulandsupportiveguidewithhiscriticalthinkingandexpertguidance.IamsoblessedtobesupervisedbyMr.Li,andwithhisguidanceIhavebeeninspiredtoreflectmoreonbothlearningandteachingEnglish.@#@MysinceregratitudealsogoestomycolleaguesinShenzhenSecondForeignLanguagesSchool,especiallytheEnglishteachers.Theyhavehelpedmeincarryingoutthesurveysandcollectingdata.Moreover,byobservingeachother’sclasses,discussingandexchangingideasandimprovingontheexistentteachingstrategies,IhavelearnedmanyusefulandefficientskillsinoralEnglishteaching,whichcontributetowritingthisthesis.@#@Ialsoappreciatethecooperationfrommystudents,whohavefilledinthequestionnairescarefullyandprovidedmewithpreciousfirst-handmaterials.SpecialthanksgotothoseworkinginIELTStutoringandtrainingorganizations.Theyhaveprovidedmewithfirst-handmaterialsrelatedtoIELTSspeakingtest.@#@Abstract@#@Asanincreasingnumberofstudentschoosetostudyabroad,internationaltestsforEFLstudentssuchasIELTSandTOEFLaregainingpopularity.Awell-designedtestshouldobjectivelyevaluatetheexaminees’linguisticcompetenceandreflectthecandidates’abilityindealingwithpracticalcommunicativeproblemsindailylife.IELTSisshortfortheInternationalEnglishLanguageTestingSystem,agloballyprovenEnglishlanguagetestandavalidindicatorusedforscreeninguniversityapplicants,immigrantsandprofessionals.The11to15-minutespeakingtestconsistsofthreeparts,includinganintroduction,anindividuallongturn,andatwo-waydiscussionbetweenonecandidateandoneexaminer,whomakesassessmentsbasedontheIELTSSpeakingbanddescriptors:

@#@Fluencyandcoherence,Lexicalresource,Grammaticalrangeandaccuracyandpronunciation.ThefourstandardscanbeemployedbyEnglishteachersinhighschoolsettingtoimprovestudents’oralEnglish.@#@WiththeimplementationoftheNewCurriculumstandard,peopleattachmoreimportancetotheuseoflanguageratherthanitsformsandrules.Manyparents,especiallyincoastalregions,arekeenonsendingtheirchildrentooralEnglishtrainingcourses.Studentsgoabroadforeducationatayoungerage.Howtoimprovestudents’communicativecompetenceandtheiroralEnglishhasalwaysbeenahotissueinChina.Forhighschoolteachers,it’sofgreatbenefittoimproveoralEnglishteachingefficiencyandeffectiveness.InGuangdongProvince,EnglishtestisdividedintotwopartsinCollegeEntranceExamination,includingawrittentest(135/150)andacomputer-basedlanguagetest(CELST)(15/150),mainlydesignedtoassessstudentslisteningandspeakingabilities.PreparingfortheCELSTusuallyinvolvesdailypractice.Bothteachersandstudentsaregreatlymotivatedintermsofenhancingefficiencyinthepractice.@#@Thepaperconsistsofsixparts.@#@Chapteroneintroducesthebackground,purposeandsignificanceoftheresearch,whichincludestheexistingproblemsincurrentoralEnglishteaching,therequirementsforhighschoolstudentsandthesignificanceofimplementingtheIELTSspeakingteststandardinhighschooloralEnglishteaching..@#@ChaptertworeviewsrelevanttheoriesaboutIELTSspeakingtest.Thispapermainlydiscussescommunicativelanguageteachingandtheme-basedlanguageteaching.@#@Chapterthreeintroducesseveralapproachesoftheteachingpracticeinfouraspects,includingfluencyandcoherence,vocabulary,grammarandpronunciationandintonation.@#@Chapterfourdescribestheproceduresconductedintheexperimentwithonecontrolledgroupandoneexperimentalgroup,includingquestionnaires,interviewsandtwotests.@#@Chapterfiveanalyzesthestatisticsoftwoexaminationsandcomparesthedatabetweenacontrolledclassandanexperimentalclass.@#@Chaptersixshowstheimportantfindings,problemsstillexistinthereadingteaching,aswellasthesuggestiontothefurtherenlightenmentandthelimitationsofthestudy.@#@Keywords:
