[9]Itwasclassicpost-traumaticbehavior,goingundiagnosed.ItwasalsoasceneplayedoutacrossAmericainthewakeofVietnamashundredsofthousandsofdisturbedandtroubledveteransreturnedhome.NowthosescenesarehappeningagainastheveteransofIraqandAfghanistanreturntowives,husbands,partnersandfamilies,carryingpsychologicalscarshiddenbytheirapparentlyhealthybodies.

[10]Post-traumaticstressdisorderisnotaneasyconditiontotreat.Itistoughtodealwithandrequiresawiderangeofpossibleapproaches,onanindividual'

scircumstances.Theyinvolveflashbacks,panicattacksandparanoia.Undersuchdisorder,person'

sbehaviorchanges,andsuffererscanbecomeviolenttotheirlovedones.Itdestroyslives,oftenbringingondivorce,bankruptcyandsuicide.
