CraigRogerswassittingonhissurfboard,scanningthedistanceforhisnextwave，whenhisboardsuddenlystoppedmoving.Helookeddownandwasterrifiedtoseeagreatwhitesharkbitingthefrontofhisboard.“Icouldhavetoucheditseyewithmyelbow,”saysCraig.Thesharkhadsurfacedsoquietlythathehadn’theardathing.

Inhishorrorandconfusion，hewavedhisarmsandaccidentallycuttwoofhisfingersontheshark’steeth.Hethenslidofftheoppositesideofhissurfboardintothewater.Then,withCraiginthewaterandbloodflowingfromhisfingers，thefive-meter-longsharksimplyswamaway,disappearingintothewaterbelow.

Althoughsharksareoftencategorizedaskillersthathuntandeatasmanyhumansastheycan,thisisfactuallyinaccurate.Sharksveryrarelykillhumans.Apersonhasagreaterchanceofbeingstruckbylightningordrowninginabaththanofbeingkilledbyashark.Only74peoplehavebeenreportedkilledbygreatwhitesinthelastcentury.Butgreatwhitesharkscanreachsixmetersinlengthandweigh2,200kilogramsormore.Withfrighteningjawsthatcanholdupto3,000teetharrangedinseveralrows，theycouldveryeasilykillandeatahelplesshumaninthewater.Whyisit,then,thatmostpeoplesurviveattacksbygreatwhites?

Sharkresearchersaretryingtocomprehendthereasonsthatallowpeopletoescapewithoutbeingeaten.

Themostcommonexplanationisthatgreatwhitesdon’tseewell.Ithasbeenthoughtthattheymistakepeopleforthesealsorsealionswhichmakeupalargepartoftheirdiet.Thereisreasontodoubtthis，however.Recentinformationshowsthatgreatwhitescanactuallyseeverywell.Also，whenattackingseals,greatwhitesshootuptothesurfaceandbitewithgreatforce.Whenapproachinghumans,however,theymostoftenmoveinslowlyandbitelesshard.Theysoondiscoverthathumansarenotahigh—fatmeal.“Theyspitusoutbecausewe’retoobony,”saysAidanMartin，directorofReefQuestCenterforSharkResearch.

SharkresearcherslikeMartinhypothesizethatgreatwhitesareactuallycuriousanimalsthatliketoinvestigatethings.It’spossiblethattheyusetheirbitenotonlytokillandeat,butalsotogatherinformation.AlthoughsuchanexperienceisunluckyforpeoplelikeCraigRogers,whensharksbitesurfboardsorotherobjectsorpeople，theyarelikelyjusttryingtolearnwhattheyare.

答案与题解：

1.C选项A（鲨鱼咬冲浪板）和B（鲨鱼咬他的手指）两个选项发生在Craig落水之前，故排除这两项。

从第二段第三行可以得到如下信息：
