WiththedevelopmentofinternationalengineeringprojectsofcivilengineeringindustryinChinainmoreandmoreinternationalengineeringandtechnologicalexchangesandcooperationhavebecomeincreasinglyfrequent,theparticipationintheconstructionoftheengineeringandtechnicalpersonneloftheincreasinglyhighdemand.NotonlytheyhavefluentEnglishcommunicationability,butalsotohavetheprofessionalskillsofcivilengineering.ButnowmanyundergraduatecivilengineeringprofessionalEnglishteachingstillexistmanyproblems,cultureisnotconducivetotherelevantpersonnel,beimperativetoEnglishteachingreformofcivilengineeringspecialty.

ThemainproblemsofcivilengineeringprofessionalEnglishTeaching

OneistheEnglishcourseofcivilengineeringmajorneglected.CivilengineeringprofessionalEnglishcourseimportanceisnotattachedtoitmainlydisplaysintwoaspects.Theimportanceofschool,notfullyunderstandingthecourse.IgnoretheprofessionalEnglishTeachinginmanyuniversitiesincivilengineering,civilengineeringprofessionalEnglishinprofessionaltrainingprogramwasscheduledforelectivetotalhours,rarely,assessmentmethodstoexaminethebasic.Second,studentshaveinsufficientunderstandingoftheimportanceofEnglishcourseofcivilengineeringmajor.Manystudentsthinkthatthefutureworkcanalmostneveruse,notknowingitisanimportantwayoflearning,thinkingcontempt,lackoflearningmotivation.Thirdly,animportantreasonistheeffectofassessmentofstudentsdonotpayenoughattentiontothecourse.Studentsgenerallytestcoursenotimportantlearningnotpayenoughattentionto.

TwoisthecontentofEnglishTeachingofcivilengineeringspecialtychoiceisnotappropriate.AtpresenttheteachingcontentsofmanygeotechnicalengineeringcollegeEnglishbasicisaccordingtotheteachingmaterialarrangement.MostofthecontentoftextbooksmainlysummarizessomeofcivilengineeringprofessionalEnglishintermsofEnglishliterature,textbookcontentcoverssmall,notcomprehensive,systematic,andsectionsarenotcoherent,someemphasisontheapplicationoftheknowledgeandsomeemphasisonbasictheory.

Thethreeistheteachingmethodandmeanscannotkeeppacewiththetimes.AtpresentmanycollegesteachingofcivilengineeringprofessionalEnglishisstillremainedinthetraditionalteachingmode,themainteachercentered,studentsrarelyparticipatein.Teachingmainmodeis:

tolearnnewwords,translationofthetext.Teachingemphasisonthetextword,word,sentencetranslationexercises,ignoredtheliteratureofcivilengineeringprofessionalEnglishexpressionsandcivilEnglishlisteningandspeakingability.Theteachingprocessisthe"spoonfeedingteachingmethod,singleteacher-studentinteractionintheclassroom,teachingboring,thestudents'interestinlearning,learningeffect.
