WestartedpublishingUSbasedregionalandnationallistsin2012inresponsetomyriademailsfromaspiringanimatorsseekingadviceregardingthe"best"schoolsintheUS.TheUS-centriclistshavebeenwell-received,somuchsothatwenowreceivefrequentrequeststopublishrankingsofinternationalanimationschools.ACRstaffwriterandSocialMediaManagerTomFronczakmanagedandauthoredthisyear'sTop100InternationalAnimationSchoolsrankings. Inpreparingthisyear’slist,wesurveyedoveronehundredanimationschoolsacrosstheglobe.Ourend-goalistogivestudentsaccesstoampleinformationsotheycanmakeaninformeddecisionabouttheschooltheychoosetoattendandtheprogramtheypursue.  

Thecriteriaforthislistincludesthefollowing,innoparticularorder:

∙Overallqualityofprogramincludingtechnologyandfacilitiesavailabletostudents. 

∙Consistencyandqualityofstudentandgraduateanimationworks. 

∙Geographicadvantagesderivedfromtheschoolbeinglocatednearanimationemploymenthotspots. 

∙Reputationofprogramwithintheindustry.

∙Tuitionandoverallcostofattendance,whiletakenintoconsideration,arenotamajorinfluenceinthisranking.  

Nooneschoolisperfectforeverybody,andthereisnosingleopinionthattrumpsallwhenitcomestowhichschoolisthe“best”.Ultimatelyeverystudenthasdifferentneedsregardingthetypeandacademicrigorofaprogram,technologyrequirements,campusculture,aswellascost,lifestyle,andcareerfocus.Ourhopeisthatthislistisastartingpointforstudentstodiscovertheschoolsthatarethebestfitforthem.
