摘要

《汤姆·索亚历险记》是美国著名小说家马克·吐温的四大名著之一。

小说发表于1876年,是当时美国社会的一个缩影。

当时美国正处于南北战争之前资本主义迅速发展的阶段。

小说通过对主人公汤姆·索亚和他的小伙伴们为了摆脱他们为了摆脱枯燥无味的功课、虚伪的教义和呆板的生活环境,作出了种种冒险经历进行描写,反映了垄断工业化社会对人们心灵的束缚和人们追求自由、冒险、理想的心灵愿望的矛盾冲突。

小说中汤姆·索亚是一个天真活泼,富于幻想和冒险,不堪忍受束缚个性,枯燥乏味的生活,幻想干一番英雄事业的人。

汤姆•索亚身上有很多纯真善良美好的东西,哪些美国资本主义工业时期人们所缺少的,也是值得我们当代人学习的。

本文将对小说的故事内容进行分析来探索汤姆索亚在《汤姆•索亚历险记》中的形象,探索其对现代人的启示。

本文将分为三个部分进行,第一部分将简单介绍马克•吐温和他的生活经历以及作品,其中着重介绍的作品是《汤姆•索亚历险记》。

ABSTRACT

isoneofthefourgreatclassicalnovelsofthefamousAmericannovelistMarkTwain.Itispublishedin1876.AnditisamicrocosmofAmericansocietyintherapiddevelopmentofcapitalismbeforethecivilwarinUnitedStates.ThisnoveldescribestheheroTomSawyer‘sadventureexperiencewithhisfriendssuchasgettingridoftheboringhomework,falsedoctrineandinflexiblelifeenvironment.Thedescriptionofallsortsofadventuresreflectstheconstraintstopeople'smind,idealdesireandthepursuitoffreedomandadventureinthemonopolyofindustrializedsociety.Inthenovel,thedescriptionofTomSawyer’simageisinnocentandlively,fulloffantasyandadventure.Heisanunbearableboundindividualcharacterwhocannotstandtheboringlifeandfantasytohaveaherocareer.

ThecharacterofTomSawyerhasalotofkindness,puregoodnessthattheAmericanpeoplelackduringtheperiodofcapitalistindustrial.Itisalsoworthyofourcontemporarystudy.ThispaperwillanalysisthecontentofthenoveltoexploreTomSawyer’sPersonalitytraitsinanddiscusstheenlightenmenttomodernpeople.Thispaperisdividedintothreeparts;thefirstpartwillsimplyintroduceMarkTwain’slifeexperienceandhisworks,whichincludestheintroductionthenovel.ThesecondpartwillanalysisthepersonalitycharacteristicsofTomSawyeronthebasisoftheplotinthisnovel.ThethirdpartwillstudythepersonalitycharacteristicsofTomSawyerandtheenlightenmenttothemodernsocietypeople.Finally,itwillmakeaconclusiontothewholepassage.

MarktwainisoneoftheAmerica’sgreatestnaturalistwritersandwashisfamousnovel.

1.1TheIntroductionofMarkTwain

MarkTwainisanAmericanhumoristwhoisbornin1835anddiedin1910.HestandsforthecriticalliteratureofAmericain19thcentury.HegrowsupinHannibal,Missouri,whichprovidesthesettingforhismasterpiece.Heisgoodathumorandironywritingstyle.MostofhisworksfocusonthetopicoffreedominAmericanandartificialdemocracyorcriticizeethicdiscrimination,moneyalmightyoftheAmericantoexpresshisyearningtotherealdemocracyandfreedom.isoneofthem.MarkTwainstatesthatpeopleshouldnotfoolaroundthetimebutneedtohaveadream,whichhasguideawayforthelostteenage,andhelpthemtoregaintheirdream.Thispointalsoimplyinhischaractersinhisnovel.

ThestorylineislikethebiographyofTomSawyer'slife.ItconsistsofaseriesofstoryaboutTomandhisfriend.TomSawyerisasmartandnaughtychild.Heisanorphanandlivesinhisaunt’shome.Hehasmanycleverideasbutdoesnotlikelearningandalwaysescapefromschooltofish,toloiterandplay"pirates"andtocollectallkindsofstrangeactionsandideas.OneofthestoriesisTomandHucktothetombandaccidentallyencountersthemurdercasethatIndianJoemurdersDoctorRobinsonandreferredtodrunkardPorter.HethreatenstheTomandHucktokeepsecret.Finally,Tomovercomesfearandindicatestherealmurderinthecourt.Thisstorydepictshisbravenessandkindness.
