AsaresultofChinaandtheWestculturaldifference,wethinkthattheAmericanaretooself-confident,isimmodest.WhileheardChinesepeopledenythemselveswhentheyarehighlyspokenbyothers,AmericanpeoplearesurprisedandconsiderChinesepeoplearedishonest.Thecognitionandresponsetocomplimentaryareusuallybasedonthesharingculturalvaluebetweencommunicationparticipates.Americanpeopleconsidertheyhavetheirowncharacteranditshouldberecognizedandaccepted.Therefore,theyreceiptcomplimentaryandregarditastheircharacterisrecognized.Onthecontrary,Chinesepeopleattachmoreweighttogroupeffort,sowhenbecomplimented,theytendtoowntheirsuccesstojointeffort,notindividualcontribution.Andlaystressonindividualachievementisnotacceptedbysociety.
