Theall-adultstudygavethesevolunteersaquestionnaire(问卷)onhowfrequentlytheyusednaturalspacesduringchildhood–forexample,playinginagarden,ridingabikeattheparkorhikinginaforest.Theywerealsoaskedabouttheimportancetheyputonusingsuchplaces.

Volunteerswerethengivenapsychologicaltest,whichincludedavarietyofproblem-solvingactivities,tolearnabouttheirmentalstatewithinafour-weekperiod.

Theresultsshowedthatthepeoplewhoweremoreexposed(暴露的)tonaturalspaceshadhighermentalhealthscorescomparedtothosewithlowerchildhoodexposure.

Accordingtothestudy,73percentofEurope’spopulationonlyhaslimitedchancetonaturalspaces.MarkNieuwenhuijsen,directorofISGlobal’sUrbanPlanning,saidthat“ManychildreninEuropeleadanindoorlifestyle…sowecallonpolicymakerstoimprovetheavailability(可得性)ofnaturalspacesforchildren.”
