Theall-adultstudygavethesevolunteersaquestionnaire（问卷）onhowfrequentlytheyusednaturalspacesduringchildhood–forexample,playinginagarden,ridingabikeattheparkorhikinginaforest.Theywerealsoaskedabouttheimportancetheyputonusingsuchplaces.

Volunteerswerethengivenapsychologicaltest,whichincludedavarietyofproblem-solvingactivities,tolearnabouttheirmentalstatewithinafour-weekperiod.

Theresultsshowedthatthepeoplewhoweremoreexposed（暴露的）tonaturalspaceshadhighermentalhealthscorescomparedtothosewithlowerchildhoodexposure.
