Unit1INSEARCHOFTHEAMBERROOM

    Sincethe1970smanynewapplicationshavebeenfoundforme.Ihavebecomeveryimportantincommunication,financeandtrade.Ihavealsobeenputintorobotsandusedtomakemobilephonesaswellashelpwithmedicaloperations.IhaveevenbeenputintospacerocketsandsenttoexploretheMoonandMars.Anyhow,mygoalistoprovidehumanswithalifeofhighquality.IamnowtrulyfilledwithhappinessthatIamadevotedfriendandhelperofthehumanrace!

Unit4HOW DAISY LEARNED TO HELP WLDLIFE

 Daisyhadalwayslongedtohelpendangeredspeciesofwildlife.Onedayshewokeupandfoundaflyingcarpetbyherbed."Wheredoyouwanttogo?

   Manymusiciansmeetandformabandbecausetheyliketowriteandplaytheirownmusic.Theymaystartasagroupofhigh-schoolstudents,forwhompracticingtheirmusicinsomeone'shouseisthefirststeptofame.Sometimestheymayplaytopassers-byinthestreetorsubwaysothattheycanearnsomeextramoneyforthemselvesortopayfortheirinstruments.Latertheymaygiveperformancesinpubsorclubs,forwhichtheyarepaidincash.Ofcoursetheyhopetomakerecordsinastudioandsellmillionsofcopiestobecomemillionaires!

   Assomeoftheseactorscouldnotsingwellenough,theyhadtorelyonothermusicianstohelpthem.Soduringthebroadcaststheyjustpretendedtosing.Anyhowtheirperformanceswerehumorousenoughtobecopiedbyothergroups.Theyweresopopularthattheirfansformedclubsinordertogetmorefamiliarwiththem.EachweekonTV,theMonkeeswouldplayandsingsongswrittenbyothermusicians.However,afterayearorsoinwhichtheybecamemoreseriousabouttheirwork,theMonkeesstartedtoplayandsingtheirownsongslikearealband.Thentheyproducedtheirownrecordsandstartedtouringandplayingtheirownmusic.IntheUSAtheybecameevenmorepopularthantheBeatlesandsoldevenmorerecords.Thebandbrokeupabout1970,buthappilytheyreunitedinthemid-1980s.Theyproducedanewrecordin1996,withwhichtheycelebratedtheirformertimeasarealband.
