Abstract摘要

ThetestsdescribedinthispartofBS476aredesignedtogiveinformationaboutfiresspreadingtotheroofofabuildingfromanearbyfireoutsidethebuildingitself.

Thetestsarenotconcernedwiththebehaviourofaroofwhensubjectedtotheeffectsoffireonitsunderside.Apreliminarytestismadeinwhichaspecimensectionoftheroofissubjectedtotheeffectsofflameintheabsenceofradiation.

Unlessthespecimenissoaffectedbythistestthatitisobviousitwouldnotpasstheprincipaltests,i.e.thepenetrationandthespreadofflametests,thesearethencarriedoutusingtheradiatedheatapparatus.

2004describesthethreestagetestmethodincorporatingburningbrands,windandsupplementaryradiantheat.
