”

很显然，一个人如果没有养成受过教育的人所具备的习惯和特质，他还是可以在某些特定的领域学习到相当多的知识。

当然获取一定的知识肯定需要进行教育，但是在任何领域都不需要这样大的知识量。

教育会在人的某些特性，特点看和能力方面留下印记，并蕴含其中，而这些特性，特点和能力必须通过不懈的努力，仿效榜样，接受明智的训练和合理正确的指导方可获得。

这些特质和特点大家进行了各种各样的描述和分类，其中有五点尤其重要，我们每个人都能意识到。

其中第一点是准确无误，精确得当地使用母语。

英语口语中存在许多让人震惊不已的脏话和俗语，英语书面语中也为数不少，这是大家所见所闻的事实。

这种现象毫无疑问地证明：

多年在中小学和大学所受的那种被认为是受人尊敬的教育没有产生任何作用。

英文说得好包括措辞得当，发音准确，而且能几乎下意识地挑选合适de词语，我们一听到，马上就能识别出来。

他会发现模仿其他类型的英语要简单多了！

受过教育de人第二个不可或缺de品质是文雅的举止。

当一个人反思到能够提出“为什么”这样的问题时，如果他能坚持下去，他有可能成为一位哲学家。

受过教育的人的第四种特质是具有成长的力量。

从出生到死亡他都在不断地成长进步。

他的兴趣不断在扩展，人脉在不断扩大，知识在不断增加，他的自我反省也越来越深入和宽广。

实际情况好像是这样的：

很多人，甚至是很多受过大学教育的人，在他们24岁或者25岁的时候，就不再继续发展。

到那个时候人们通常会安定下来，开展着与他们智力相当的兴趣和活动，过着满意的平静生活。

当前风行的成人教育就是这么一种有系统，有明确目标的尝试，让人们在离开学校后还能继续自我发展，从而帮助他们继续接受教育。

受过教育的人的第五个特质是效率高，有实践的能力。

一个单纯的幻想者，无论他多么有魅力有智慧，都达不到教育的要求。

实践的能力可以用不同的方式进行运用，可以是一千种方式，一旦清晰地呈现出来，就表明学习，管教，父母和师长陪伴的时光是有价值的。

如果拥有了这五种特质，一个人就具备了成为受过教育的人的基本框架。
