Whenwritingyourcoverletter,keepinmindthatthereviewerisonlyinterestedinonething:
thefacts.Donotthinkofyourcoverletterasanautobiography;itshouldbebriefandtothepoint.Thepurposeofthecoverletter（andresume）shouldbeonething–itshoulddemonstratethatyoumeetorexceedtherequirementslistedinthejobdescription.Itshoulddemonstratethatyou’reinterestedintheposition,andthatyou'reavailabletoacceptthepositionifoffered.Additionalinformationbeyondthiscanbecounterproductive,asitdilutesthecorepurposeofthecoverletter.
Spendtimethinkingaboutthelayoutofyourletter,andmakesurethatit'seasyontheeyes.Itshouldbeeasytoscantheletter,andhavealogicalprogression.Keepinmind,thereviewerofyourcoverletterandresumehashundreds（ifnotthousands）ofcoverlettersandresumestolookat,somakeiteasyforhim/hertofindtheinformationyouwanttohighlight.Buncheduptextinlongparagraphswillfrustrateanyonewhohastoreviewhundredsofresumesandcoverlettersaweek.Inadditiontothelayout,don'tjustrepeatyourresume.Yourcoverletterisnotasummaryofyourresume;instead,it'sanintroductionofyourself,andanargumentforwhyyouarethebestcandidatefortheircompanyandthespecificposition.
