Scientistswillusesmalltoolstoglueonthesensors,weighingabout5milligramsandmeasuring2.5millimeters(alittlemorethan1/16ofaninch)square,aftercalmingthebeestosleepbyrefrigeration.Someyoungbees,whichtendtobehairierthanolderbees,needtobeshavedbeforethesensorcanbegluedon.Scientistswillexaminetheeffectivenessofpesticidesinprotectingthebeesfromcolonycollapsedisorderandvarroamite.
