Twain’swritingisfullofthesekindsofcriticalpointsaboutcultureandpolitics.That’swhyheissolovedintheUS–hewasn’tafraidtostatehisopinions,andhedidsoclearly.

Forinstance,Twaindidn’tlikeUSwarsabroad.In1900,aftertheUSinvadedthePhilippines,Twainwroteinanewspaperarticle:

“Wedonotintendtofree,buttosubjugatethepeopleofthePhilippines…Wehavegonetheretoconquer.”

Healsobelievedstronglyinwomen’srighttovoteinelectionsandgaveafamousspeechonthesubject,called“VotesforWomen”,in1901.

Thethirdgroupmettheirdailyfitnessgoals50percentmoreoftenthantheothertwogroups,showingthatpeopleweremostmotivatedtowalkbythefearoflosingmoney.
