目的与结果状语从句

Sothat（以便），inorderthat（以便），incase（以免/以防）可以引导目的状语从句。

e.g.:

Theygotupearlysothattheycouldcatchtheearlybus.

Sothat从句和inorderthat从句在主从句主语统一的情况下可以转换成inorderto或soasto不定式。

e.g.:

Theygotupearlysothattheycouldcatchtheearlybus.注意：

若主从句的主语不统

→Theygotupearlysoasto/inordertocatchtheyearlybus.一，就不能相互转换。

注意：

目的状语从句的谓语多由“情态动词+动词”构成。

★结果状语从句

So...that和such...that,意为“如此...以至于”，引导结果状语从句。

e.g.:

Heworkedsohardthathewaspraised.

So...that和such...that的用法：

（1）它们的结构分别为：

So+形容词/副词+that从句

Such+形容词+名词+that从句

在“such+形容词+名词+that从句”这种结构中，名词若是可数名词单数，不定冠词a/an应放在形容词的前边，即“such+a/an+形容词+名词+that从句”。

（2）so...that,such...that引导的结果状语从句可以跟enoughtodo相互转换，也可以与too...to结构相互转换。

e.g.:

Hewassotiredthathecouldn’tmove.

→Hewastootiredtomove.

（3）sothat多用于引导目的状语从句，有时候也可以引导一个结果状语从句。

它们的区别在于从句中是否有情态动词。

从句中有情态动词can,could,may,might,would,should等，表示从句谓语动作将发生在主句谓语动作之后，sothat引导的是目的状语从句。

如果sothat从句中没有情态动词，主从句之间是因果关系，此时的从句为结果状语从句。

e.g.:

Hemadegooduseoftimesothathecouldfinishtheworkintime.

（从句中有情态动词could,动作将要发生，表示目的，是目的状语从句）

Hemadegooduseoftime,sothathefinishedtheworkintime.

（从句中无情态动词，主从句之间是因果关系，是结果状语从句）
