1Scope

ThisTSdefinesthestageonedescriptionoftheGeneralPacketRadioService（GPRS）.Stageoneisanoverallservicedescription,primarilyfromtheservicesubscriber'sanduser'spointsofview,butdoesnotdealwiththedetailsofthehumaninterfaceitself.ThisTSincludesinformationapplicabletonetworkoperators,serviceprovidersandterminal,switchanddatabasemanufacturers.

ThisTScontainsthecorerequirementsforthepacketswitchednetworksspecifiedby3GPPwhicharesufficienttoprovideacompleteservice.ItdefinesasetofbearerservicesthatprovidepacketmodetransmissionwithinthePLMNandinterworkwithexternalnetworks.

ThetermGPRSshallbeusedinthisdocumenttorefertheGPRSserviceofferedviaGERANandUTRANandthePSDomainofthe3GPLMN.

TheGPRSshallnotpreventtheuser'soperationofother3GPPservices.
