BeforeEinstein，scientistsbelievedthatlighttraveledthroughspaceinastraightline．ButEinsteinwasabletoprovethatlightcomingfromthestarswasbentasitpassedthesun．Asaresult，itappearedtoscientistsonearththatthestarshadmoved.Heworkedoutjusthowmuchthelightwouldbebent；

hecouldalsoworkouthowfarthestarswouldappeartohavemoved.
