In1957,JaneGoodalltraveledtoAfrica.Shesoonmetthewell-knownscientistLouisLeakeyandbeganworkingforhimasanassistant.HelateraskedhertostudyagroupofchimpanzeeslivingbyalakeinTanzania.Verylittlewasknownaboutwildchimpanzeesatthattime.
