DefinitionofAirWaybill

AnAirWaybill（AWB）isthedocumentmadeoutbyoronbehalfoftheshipperthatevidencesthecontractbetweentheshipperandcarrier（s）forcarriageofgoodsoverroutesofthecarrier（s）.AnAWBisbyfarthemostessentialtransportdocumentandwasestablishedattheWARSAWConventionin1929.AnAWBlegallystipulatesliabilitiesofcarrier（s）andlimitsoncompensation,rightsandobligationsoftheshipper,consigneeandcarrier（s）andisnon-negotiable.

IssuanceofAWB

Inprinciple,shipper（s）isrequiredtocompletetheAWBbut,inpractice,thecarrieroragentauthorizedbythecarriernormallycompletestheAWBonbehalfoftheshipper.

TheAWBmustconformtoshippingdocumentssuchasShipper'sLetterofInstruction,L/CandCommercialInvoice.

Inprinciple,theAWBshouldbeissuedafteracceptanceoftheentireconsignment.

ThecarrieranditscargoagentshouldcheckiftheAWBcontainsallrequiredinformationwithoutomissionincludingconsignee,shipper,placeofdepartureandplaceofdestination.

CompletionoftheairWaybill

AirportofDeparture

TheIATAthree-lettercodeoftheairportofdeparture（orcitywhenthenameoftheairportisunknown）shallbeinserted.

Shipper'sNameandAddress

Thename,address,cityandcountryoftheshippershallbeinserted;oneormoremethodofcontact（telephone,telex,telefax）andthenumbershallbeinsertedbelow.

Shipper'sAccountNumber

Thisboxisreservedfortheissuingcarrieranddoesnotneedtobecompletedbytheagent.

Consignee'sNameandAddress

Thename,address,cityandcountryoftheconsigneemustbeinserted.Inserttheconsignee'stelephonenumber,aswell,ifknown.

Whenshipments,foranyreason,mustbeaddressedtoabankortoanagent,aNotifyPartymustbeinsertedinbox21（HandlingInformation）.Eventhoughthenotifypartyisconsideredastheactualconsigneeoftheshipment（s）,thedeliveringstationshallnotdealwiththenotifypartydirectlybutshouldawaitinstructionsfromtheconsigneeshowninbox4oftheAWB.Iftheshipperinsiststhatapersonorthefirmotherthantheconsignee,mustalsobenotified,theaddressofthepersonorthefirmshallbeinsertedinbox21aswell,precededbythewords'alsonotify'.

Insuchcase,thedeliveringcarriershallgivenoticetotheparty,butshalldelivertheAWBaccordingtotheinstructionfromtheconsignee,notfromthenotifyparty.

BecausetheAWBisnotanegotiabledocument,shipmentsshallnotbeaddressed'Toorder'or'Toorderoftheshipper'.

Incaseashipmentmustbeaddressedtothecareofthefinalorthedeliveringcarrier,ortoahotelorasimilartransitaddresstoawaitpick-upbytheconsignee,theconsignee'sorhisrelative'shomeaddressshouldbeshowninbox21proceededbythewords:

'Incaseofinabilitytodelivertoconsignee,contact.'

Consignee'sAccountNumber.

Acodeassignedbytheairlinestoidentifythecustomer.Thisentryisreservedforthedeliveringcarrieratitsoption.

IssuingCarrier'sAgent,NameAndCity

Thenameandcityofthecarrier'sagententitledtothecommissionshallbeinserted.WhencommissionispayabletoanIATAcargoagentinthecountryofdestination,thenameandlocationofsuchIATAcargoagentshallbeinserted,proceededbythewords'CommissionableAgent.'

Agent'sIATACode

TheIATAcodeoftheagentindicatedinparagraph6abovemustbeinserted.

IssuingCarrier'sAgent,AccountNumber

Thisboxisreservedfortheissuingcarrierandshallbeusedbytheagentonlyasinstructedbytheissuingcarrier.

AirportofDeparture（AddressofFirstCarrier）,RequestedRouting.

Theairportofdeparture（whichistheaddressofthefirstcarrier）andanyrequestedroutingshallbeinserted;3-lettercitycodesmaybeused.

AccountingInformation

Anyspecialaccountinginformationshallbeinserted,forexample:

a）TheISOthree-lettercurrencycodeofthecurrencyapplicableinthecountryof

ChargesCode

Tobeusedbycarrier'saccountingofficesonly.Fordetails,TACTRulessection6.2shallbereferredto.

Weight/ValuationCharge-Prepaid/Collect

Theshipper/agent,whodoesnotshowdetailsofchargesintheappropriateboxesoftheAirWaybill,mustindicatebyinsertionofan'x'intheapplicablebox,whetherweightandvaluationchargesarewhollyprepaidorwhollycollect.Bothofthesechargesmustbeeitherwhollyprepaidorwhollycollect,unlessotherwisespecificallyindicated.

OtherChargesatOrigin-Prepaid/Collect

Theshipper/agent,whodoesnotshowthesechargeseitherinthe'TotalOtherPrepaidCharges'boxdescribedinparagraph26a,26borthe'TotalOtherCollectCharges'boxdescribedinparagraph26aand26boftheAirWaybill,mustindicatebyinsertionofan'x'intheapplicablebox,whetherallotherchargesatoriginarewhollyprepaidorwhollycollect.

Iftheinformationcontainedintheboxesdescribedinparagraph15aboveisinconflictwiththeinformationintheboxes'TotalPrepaid'describedinparagraph27and/or'TotalCollect'describedinparagraph28,thelattershalltakeprecedence.

DeclaredValueForCarriage

Thedeclaredvalueforcarriageasspecifiedbytheshippershallbeinserted.Thedeclaredvaluelimitsthecarrier'sliabilityincaseofloss,ordamagetocargo,andthevaluationchargeswillbeassessedbasedontheamountofthedeclaredvalue.Iftheshipperwantstoinsert'NoValueDeclared',thecolumnshallbefilledwiththeabbreviationof'NVD'.Thewords'NoValue','MaxFree'or'M/F'shallnotbeacceptedasvaluedeclaration.

DeclaredValueForCustoms

Whentheboxisunshadedandtheshipperdeclaresavalueforcustomspurposes,suchvaluemaybeinserted.Iftheshipperdoesnotwanttodeclarethevalueforcustoms,insert'NVD'（NoValueDeclared）orleavetheboxblank.

Thenameofthetownorairportofdestinationofthelastcarriershallbeinsertedinfullwriting.Toavoidanypossibleconfusionbetweentwolocationsbearingthesamename,thedistrictorcountrywhereitissituatedmustbeadded,e.g.Birmingham,Uk;Birmingham,Alabama,USA.

Flight/Date

Thisboxisreservedfortheparticipatingcarriers.Reservationsrequestedbytheshippershallnotbeinserted.Thisdoesnotconstituteafirmbooking.

AmountofInsurance

EntertheinsuredamountincaseShipper'sInterestInsurance（S.I.I.）isdesiredbytheshipper.Theamountforwhichthegoodsaretobeinsuredmaynotbethesameasthedeclaredforcarriage.

AlsothisinsurancecoversthelossordamageevenincasethevalueforcarriageisdeclaredasNVDontheAWB.TheinsuredamountshallnotbemorethantheactualvalueofthepropertyatdestinationorthevaluestatedinthecommercialinvoiceCIF
