•Havepupilslookatthepictureonthepage.Talkaboutthepicturewithpupils.Forexample:

Guess.

•TellpupilsthatthegirlinagreendressisKate.Sheisgoingtotellsomethingtotheothergirl.

•Playtherecording,orreadtherhymetothepupils,linebyline,tocheckunderstanding,andhavepupilsrepeatthekeywordsafteryou.

•Startwiththefirstrow.Readthewordslowlytoguidepupilstodeducethesoundrepresentedby“pl”.

•Repeattheaboveprocedurefortheremaining4groupsofwords.

•Playtherecordingforpupilstolisten.

•Playtherecordingagain,pausingaftereachgroupofwordsforpupilstorepeat.

•Now,invitepupilstolookattheTrymorecolumn.Askpupilstoapplythesound-spellingrelationshipstheyhavelearntinsoundingoutthenewwords.Givehelpifnecessary.

•Finishoffbyaskingpupilstotryreadingaloudthe2sentencesbelowthetable.
