Surprisingnewresearchsuggeststhathappinessdoesindeedhaveapleasantsmell,andthattheexperienceofhappinesscanbetransmitted（传播）throughsmell.
Forthestudy,12youngmenwereshownvideosmeanttobringaboutavarietyofemotionswhileresearcherscollectedsweatsamples（样本）fromthem.Allofthemenwerehealthyandnoneofthemweredrugusersorsmokers,andallwereaskedtoabstainfromdrinkingoreatingsmellyfoodsduringthestudyperiod.
Thosesweatsampleswerethengivento36equallyhealthyyoungwomentosmell,whileresearchersobservedtheirreactions.Onlywomenwereselectedtosmellthesamples,obviouslybecausepreviousresearchhasshownthatwomenhaveabettersenseofsmellthanmenandarealsomoresensitive（敏感的）toemotionalsignaling.
“Whenapersonishappy,hissweatbringsaboutastatesimilartohappinessinsomebodywhobreathesthissmell,”saidstudyco-authorGunSemin,aprofessoratKocUniversityinTurkey.
Thisisafascinatingfindingbecauseitnotonlymeansthathappinessdoeshaveapleasantsmell,butthatthesmellisabletopasstheemotiontoothers.Thestudyalsofoundthatotheremotions,suchasfear,seemtocarryasmelltoo.Thisensurespreviousresearchsuggestingthatsomenegative（消极的）emotionshaveasmell,butitisthefirsttimethishasprovedtobetrueofpositivefeelings.
Researchershavenotisolated（分离）exactlywhatthechemicalcompoundforthehappinesssmellis,butyoumightimaginehowtomakeuseofsuchafinding.Happinessperfumes,forinstance,couldbeinvented.Scent
