–30November1900）wasanIrishplaywright,novelist,essayist,andpoetin20century. 

HeisarepresentativefigureofaestheticismliteratureinEnglishandoneoftheadvocatesfor“Artforart’ssake”.Heiscontroversialforhischaracteristicandworks.ThePictureofDorianGray,ashisonlynovel,hasbeenanalyzedinmanydifferentwayslikeFreud,gothic,spacebyscholarsathomeandabroad.

ThispaperwillconcentrateonOscarWilde’saestheticismwhichembodiedinhisfamousnovelThePictureofDorianGray.

Thefirstpartistheintroductionofthebook,thewriterandhisaestheticism.

Thesecondpartisaboutguidingconceptandtheoriesofaesthetics,comingupwithmyownviewpointandChernychevsky’stheorythatsupportingmine.

王尔德（1854—1900）是十九世纪著名的剧作家、评论家、诗人、散文家,出生于爱尔兰,是英国唯美主义文学的代表人物,“为艺术而艺术”的倡导者之一。

他的作品及其人格，一直饱受人们争议。

《道林格雷的画像》这本书作为王尔德唯一的一部小说，有许多国内外学者试从弗洛伊德，哥特意向，空间等多个角度进行解读。

本篇论文是以王尔德唯一的长篇小说《道林格雷的画像》为例，旨在研究和批判其唯美主义思想和理论。

1.1IntroductionofAestheticism

Theword“aesthetic”wasfrom“aesthetica“usedinLatin.Aestheticism,alsocalledtheAestheticMovement,isanintellectualandartmovementsupportingtheemphasisofaestheticvaluesmorethansocial-politicalthemesforliterature,musicandotherarts.Inthelatenineteenthcentury,aestheticismmovementappearedinthefieldofBritishartandliteratureinalooseorganizationofanti-socialmovement,itoccurredinthelateVictorianera,roughlyfrom1868to1901,usuallytheacademiccommunitybelievesthattheendoftheaestheticmovementwasmarkedbyOscarWilde’sarrest.Duringthistime,artfocusedmoreonbeingbeautifulratherthanhavingadeepermeaning-‘Artforart’ssake’whichpromotedbytheFrenchphilosopherVictorKuchingandOrpheeGautier.ItwasparticularlyprominentinEuropeduringthe19thcentury,supportedbynotablefiguressuchasOscarWilde,butcontemporarycriticsarealsoassociatedwiththemovement,suchasHaroldBloom,whohasrecentlyarguedagainstprojectingsocialandpoliticalideologyontoliteraryworks,whichhebelieveshasbeenagrowingprobleminhumanitiesdepartmentsoverthelast.Thewritersandartistsintheaestheticmovementarguethatthemissionofartistoprovidesensualpleasuretomankindratherthantoconveysomesortofmoraloremotionalmessage;
