ABSTRACT

Ashortabstract（250wordsmaximum）shouldopenthepaper.Thepurposesofanabstractare:

（1）togiveaclearindicationoftheobjective,scope,andresultsofthepapersothatreadersmaydeterminewhetherthefulltextwillbeofparticularinteresttothem;

（2）toprovidekeywordsandphrasesforindexing,abstracting,andretrievalpurposes.Theabstractshouldnotattempttocondensethewholesubjectmatterintoafewwordsforquickreading.

INTRODUCTION

BecauseASMEtypesetsacceptedpaperspriortopublication,itisnotnecessaryforauthorstodomorethanstructuralformattingforthebodyofthepaper.Figuresandtablesshouldnotbeinsertedinthetext,buteachshouldbeincludedonaseparatepageattheendofthepaper.Forreadability,pleasebesuretousedoublespacing.

Acitationmustappearforeachreferenceinthereferencesection.Citationsshouldbeconsecutivelynumberedusingsquarebrackets[1].Thesentencepunctuationfollowsthebrackets[2].Multiplereferences[2,3]orarangeofreferences[4-7]shouldappearwithinasinglesetofbrackets.Insentences,refersimplytothereferencenumber,asin[8].Donotuse“Ref.[9]”or“reference[9]”exceptatthebeginningofasentence:

“Reference[9]shows...”.TheReferencesshouldbeinaseparatesectionattheendofthepaper.

Equationsshouldbenumberedconsecutivelybeginningwith

（1）totheendofthepaper,includinganyappendices.Thenumbershouldbeenclosedinparenthesesandsetflushrightinthecolumnonthesamelineastheequation.

LEVEL-ONEHEADS

Thetextshouldbeorganizedintologicalpartsorsections.Headingsandsubheadingsshouldappearthroughoutthepapertodividethesubjectmattertoemphasizethemajorelements.Theseheadingsassistthereaderinfollowingthetrendofthoughtandinformingamentalpictureofthepointsofimportance.Partsorsectionsmaybenumbered,ifdesired,butparagraphsshouldnotbenumbered.

Ifanymaterialthatisincludedinapaperisundercopyright,theauthorsofthepaperareresponsibleforobtainingcopyrightpermissions,includinganyinformationrequiredbythecopyrightholder,andbeabletoproducesuchpermissionsuponrequest.
