Abstract
Inrecentyears,therelationshipbetweengraphicdesignandvisuals(GDV)hasbecomeasourceofdebateforresearchers.Humanbeingsaresymbolicallyinnovative;
theyreacttotheirenvironmentbycreatingdevicesthatwillassisttheminadaptingtothenumerousproblemsofcommu-nication.Thisreactiontoenvironmentalinfluenceledtothedevelopmentofdifferentdeviceswhichareproblemsolvingtechnologiesintheirrecurrentactivities.Thespringingup,andadvancementofgraphic
designdevicesinInformationTechnologiesandCommunication,broughtseriesofbenefitsandrelieftomankind.ModernmanexistsinanerainwhichtechnologicalinnovationanddevicesaredominatingtheaccomplishmentsofhumanendeavourandthesupersonicageofInformationTechnologyexplosioningraphicdesigncommunicationwhichhasmadelifemuchmoremeaningful.Newinnovationsandmethodologiesareappliedingraphiccommunicationvisualsystemindisseminatinginformationtotheaudience.Thispaper,surveystheimpactandtheroleofgraphicvisualscommunication.Inculturaldevelopments.Keywords:

1Introduction
Theconcept‘graphicdesignvisuals’(GDV)withinthecontextofthispaperisdefinedasatool,systemortechniquewhichhastheabilitytocollect,store,display,transmit,receiveorabsorbmessagesovershortorlongdistancevisually(Akinyokun1999).Fromtheabove,wearereferringtotheembodimentsofaconvergenceofinterestbetweengraphicscommunicationvisualsandtelecommunicationallofwhichareleadingtotherapiddevelopmentofmicroelectronicsorganizationsingraphicartanddesigning.Ogunsote(1990)classifiesittobethebroadrangeofInformationTechnologiesassociatedwithvisualtelecommunicationsystemsandautomationrobots,laboratorytestingofcertainequipments
andmanybasicelectroniccontrolledtechnologiesingraphics.GraphicdesignvisualistheprocessoftransmittingamessagefromasourcetoareceiverasGerbnerpostulatesinHoban(1974)thatthecultivationhypothesisformassgraphicdesigncommunicationstatesthatmessagesandmessagesystemscultivatepriorities,valuesandpatternofperceptionand,expectationsinestablishingrealityvisually.Forinstance,graphicdesignvisualsarerelativelymorestableinformationcontentthatcanbesubjectedtovariedperceptionorinterpretationspartlyduetoexperienceandabilitylevelofindividualslisteningandwatchinginlearningsystem.Oneargumentthatshouldberesolvedinemphasizinggraphicdesignvisualsthatcouldserveasstimulifortechnologicaltrendsinculturaldevelopmentisthatagenerallevelofartisticanddesigningliteracywhichshouldbeachieved.Artisticanddesigningliteracyinthescopeofthisstudyisbroadlytheabilitytoencodeanddecodevisualsymbolsingraphicdesignandcommunication.Thereisaneed,therefore,forgraphicdesignerstodevelopanawarenessofvisualmeaningthataudiencecaninterpretonthebasisofwhattheencoderselectsandstresses.Thiswillcontributeimmenselytosocialandeconomicimprove-mentsuchascommunicationtechnologyproductivity,increasingaccesstoahigherqualityoflife,incorporatesvisualtechnologiesandtechniquesusedinmanaginginformation.
2RoleofGraphicVisualsinCommunicationinTechnologicalAge
Theroleofgraphicdesignsinvisualcommunicationfindsexpressioninpeople’spropensitytomeettheirneedsinthecontextoftheircommunitiesandinaccordancewiththeirlifestylesandculturalbackground.Therolesofgraphicvisualsincommunicationarepredominantdespitethemoderatingeffectofeconomicclimateandtechnologynow.Graphicvisualcommunicationasthenamesuggests,iscommunicationthroughvisualaid.Itistheconveyanceofideasandinformationthatcanbereadorlookedupon.Primarilyassociatedwithtwodimensionalimages,itincludessigns,typography,drawing,graphicdesign,illustration,colourandelectronicresources.Itreliessolelyonvision.Itisaformofcommunicationwithvisualeffectanditexplorestheideathatavisualmessagewithtexthasagreaterpowertoinform,educateorpersuadeaperson.Itisclassifiedascommunicationbypresentinginformationthroughvisualforms.Someoftherolesofgraphicdesignsinvisualcommunicationaretheevaluationofagoodvisualdesignwhichisbasedonmeasuringcomprehensionbytheaudience,notonaestheticorartisticpreferencebecausetherearenouniversallyagreedprinciplesofbeautyanduglinessindesign
