ThislessonisthereadingpartoftheUnit9.ThelessonfocusesonSingapore--APlaceYouWillNeverForget,aimingatlettingstudentsknowaboutthereasonsforvisitingSingapore.Thetopicofthisunitiscloselyrelatedtostudents’reallife,andinaccordwithstudentscognitivelevel,andthusitcanmakestudentslearnmeaningfullyandbuildstudentsaconfidenceofEnglishlearning.

Thislessonmainlyconsistsoflead-in,readingandafterreadingparts.Thefirstlead-inpartmainlyisintendedtoarousethestudentsinterestsofreadingandhelpsthestudentstobuildinmindastructureofnewknowledge.Thenthesecondreadingsectionaimsatunderstandingthetextthoroughlywiththehelpofsomereadingstrategies.Infastreadingpart,studentsgetthemainideaofthetextfromthetitleandpictures.Thenbyfindingthekeywordofeachparagraph,thestudentsgetthestructureofthetextquickly.Incarefulreadingpart,thestudentsreadthetextfordetails,notonlyknowaboutreasonsforvisitingSingapore,butalsolearntouseimportantphrasessubconsciouslywithinitialinputofthetextstructure.Finally,thethirdpart,afterreadingpartmainlyconsistsofdeepthinking,retellingandsummary.Andpracticetasktargetsatimprovingstudents’abilityoflanguageoutput,andthusrealizingthegoalofcultivatingstudents’furtherunderstandingandcreativethinkingability.
