Itgoeswithoutsayingthatpart-timeworkingatcollegehassomeadvantages.First,aparttimejobbringsthemmoremoneyandhelpsthemtoreducetheirparents'economicburdens.

Second,itoffersthemachancetodemonstratetheirabilityandtoapplywhattheyhavelearnedinschool.Third,ithelpsthemtogainsomesocialandeconomicknowledgeandtopracticetheirsocialabilities,whichareofgreathelptotheirfuturecareer.Finally,itenrichestheircampuslife.

Butthisactivitymaybringsomedisadvantagestothestudents.First,toomuchpart-timeworkingmaylosetheirtimeneededfortheirsleep,rest,studyandrecreation.Second,itmayaffecttheirstudiesiftheycomebackwithtiredness.Andasaresult,theirstudiesaregoingdown.Finally,moremoneymaybringbadeffectsonsomeofthestudentswhospendtheirtimesmoking,drinking,dressingotherthanstudying.

Inmyopinion,thosestudentsshouldkeepabalancebetweenstudyandthejob.Asastudent,acquiringmoreknowledge,especiallymorebooklearningknowledge,isthemaintask.Althoughapart-timejobcandoyouaworldofgood,youshouldnotspendtoomuchtimeonit.

Asamatteroffact,realknowledgecomesfrompracticeanddirectexperience.Onlyoutsidetheclassroomcanweapplywhatwehavelearnedandgetnewknowledge.Althoughwecanlearnmoreoutside,thestudyinclassalsoplaysanimportantrole.

Booksareofvariouskindsandhavedifferentcontents.Wehavehistorybooksrecordingpastevents,geographybooksdealingwiththeearth,mathematicsbooksfocusingonspaceandnumbers.Wehavevariousbooksdealingwithdifferentthingsintheworld.Readingbookscanenrichourknowledge.Wecanlearnlotsofthingswedidnotpreviouslyknow,andbeawareofwhathashappenedinthepastaswellaswhatisgoingtohappeninthefuture.It'simpossibleforamantolearneverythingthroughhisownexperience,whilebookscanhelphimtoachievethispurpose.Itisbyreadingthatwecanlearnmanythingswithoutactuallyseeingorhearingthem.

Lifeislimited,butknowledgeisboundless.Themorebooksweread,themoreknowledgeweget.Toreadbooksisnecessarytoonewhowishestogetknowledge.Differentbooksgivedifferentkindsofknowledge.

3．出国留学

Bylookingatourowncountryfromtheoutside,wecanbestseethestrongpointsandweakpointsofournationandthereforewidenourvisionandbroadenourminds.Whilestudyinginaforeigncountry,wecantravelwidely,visitfamousscenicspotsandmakefriendswiththelocalpeople.Wecanusetheforeignlanguageinourdailylifesothatourabilityinthesecondlanguagemaybeimprovedquickly.Butthemostimportantthinginattendingaforeignuniversityistogetacquaintedwiththelatestknowledgeinscienceandtechnologyandmakeuseofthefirstratefacilitiesavailable.

However,aseverythinghastwosides,therearealsosomedisadvantagesinattendingaforeignuniversity.Themostseriousproblemisthelanguagebarrier.Mostofthestudentswhoarereadytogoabroaddonothaveadequateproficiencyinthelanguagespokenthere.Onarrivingthere,theywillfinditdifficulttounderstandwhattheinstructorsaresaying.Forlackofknowledgeofthecustomsandwayoflifeofthelocalpeople,theymayrunintotroubleindealingwithvarioussituations.Thecostoflivingismuchhigherthanthatinourcountry,somoststudentshavetofindpart-timejobsinordertohelpsupportthemselves.Facedwiththesedifficulties,manystudentsfindthemselvesunabletopayfullattentiontotheirstudiesandsomestudentsmayevenfailintheircoursesandlearnlittle.Onemustconsiderbothsidesofthefactorscarefullybeforemakinguphismind.Itisagoodthingtogoandstudyabroadparticularlywhenthesubjectisveryweakornotavailableinourcountry.Butontheotherhand,onemustnotlosesightofthedisadvantages.

Therearemanyargumentsabouttheadvantagesanddisadvantagesofexamination.Somepeoplethinkexaminationistheonlywaytotesthowexamineeshavemasteredwhattheyhavestudied,anditistheonlymeasurementforexaminerstoselectwhichpersonstheyneed.Ontheotherhand,someobjectthatexaminationcan'tmeasurehowthestudentshavereallystudied.Theysayitcandonothingbutburdenthestudents.

Whatismore,teachers'judgmentsmaysometimesbeunfair,fortheymaygettiredandmakemistakes.Wearelookingforwardtoasimplerandmoreeffectivewayofjudgingaperson'strueability.

Inshort,examinationsmotivatepassivememorizinginsteadofcreativethinking.

Theexaminationsystemhascometobethemainthemeofmoderneducation.Oneshouldtakeanexaminationandsucceedinpassingitbeforehecouldbeadmitted,promotedorgraduated.

Inmyopinionitshouldbe.Manypeoplethinkthatanexaminationistheonlymeanstomeasureknowledge,but,infact,thatisnottrue.Afewquestionsgiveninexaminationcouldbynomeanscoverthewholefieldorscopeofthesubject.Thusthosewhoareabletoanswerthemmaybethepoorestofthestudentsandyethappentoknowjustafewpointsaboutthatsubject.Andsotheyareentitledtobecalledsuccessfulstudents.

Iwishfurthertosaythat,becauseoftheexistenceoftheexaminationsystemstudentspaysomuchattentiontohighmarks,thattheyoftenforgetthechiefpurposeofeducation.Theso-calledcleverstudentsdevotethemselvestothestudyoftextbooksonly.They,ofcourse,knownothingbuttheskeletonofknowledge.Theendandaimofeducation,however,istoenablestudentstolearnhowtolive.Todothis,thestudentsmustavailthemselvesofallkindsoftraining,physicalaswellasmental.Thepresentexaminationsystemhasdiscouragedstudentsfrommakingsuchanattempt.

Moreover,sincethestudentstrysohardtocommittheirlessonstomemoryinasshortatimeaspossible,theysoonforgetthewholesubjectassoonastheexaminationisover.Surelythisisoneofthegreatestwastesevermadeinthehistoryofcivilization.

Lastly,inordertogethighmarks,thereisagreattemptationforstudentstocheatinexamination.Indeed,suchapracticebecomesthemeanstotheend.Theycheattheirteachers,theirparentsandalsothemselves.Suchatendencywouldimpairourmoralstandards.Iamoftheopinion,inconclusion,thattheexaminationsystemshouldbeabolished.

Inthefirstplace,demandingstudentswearinguniforminschoolisnotgoodtotheirpsychologicalhealthdevelopment.Whattoweareverydayisaperson'sownbusiness,andforchildren,it'sthesame.Soschoolauthoritieshavenorighttodeprivetheirrightforchoosingclothes.Iftheydoso,theyareforcingstudentstodowhattheydon'tlikeandinterfereinstudents'business.
