DominoServerTasksandConsoleCommands

Inthischapter,IdiscusshowtospecifywhichcomponenttasksDominoloadsatstartupandhowtoconfigureDominotorunscheduledmaintenancetasks.Thistypeofconfigurationisusuallydoneonceastheserveriscommissioned,withoccasionalchangesasneeded.

ThereisalsoasetofcommandsthatyoucanissueattheDominoserverconsoletodynamicallycontroltheoperationoftheserver.ThesecommandsaretypicallyusedtodiagnoseandresolveissueswithDominooperations,makedynamicconfigurationchangestotheDominoserver,ortooverridescheduledoperationsandmakethingssuchasmailroutingordatabasereplicationhappenimmediately.

DominoServerTasks

AfewlinesinNOTES.INIdefinewhichservertasksarestartedwhentheserverstartsup,andalsowhichscheduledtasksaretorunatvarioustimesduringtheday.

TheServerTasks=lineliststhetaskstostartastheserverstartsup.ThescheduledtasksarelistedintheServerTasksAt0=toServerTasksAt23=lines.Thesespecificationsusethe24-hourclock,where0ismidnightand23is11:

AnotheroptionforschedulingtasksistheProgramdocumentintheDominoDirectory.TheProgramdocumentisdescribedinChapter2,DominoDirectories.

Bydefault,thefollowingtasksareconfiguredtostart,dependingonhowtheserverhasbeenconfigured:

Whentheserverhasbeenupgradedfrom4.x,youarenotrequiredtorunthesetupapplicationafterthecodehasbeeninstalled.Thismeansthattheoriginallistofstartuptasksisretained.BecausetheReportstasknolongerexistsinR5andhasbeenreplacedbytheCollecttask,youmustremoveit.YoualsomustremovetheSMTPMTAstatement,sincethisfunctionhasbeenaddedtotheRouterprocess.

Then,forthescheduledtasksinNOTES.INI,theseentriesareaddedaspartoftheoriginalinstallation:

Performsupdatesofdatabasefulltextindexesfordatabasesthatareconfiguredtobeupdatedhourlyordaily.ThistaskisautostartedbyDominoanddoesnotneedtobeaddedtoNOTES.INIinordertorun.Youcancausethistasktorunimmediatelybyissuingthecommandsloadchronosdailyorloadchronoshourly.

Cladmin（ClusterAdministrationProcess）

EnsurescorrectoperationoftheDominoapplication-levelcluster.

Cldbdir（ClusterDatabaseDirectoryManager）

Maintainstheclusterdatabasedirectory.
