Abstract

Indifferentculturalbackgrounds,eachnationhasitsuniquedifferentdiet.Withtheacceleratingpaceoflife,thereisanewdietarypatternhassoondominatedtheforefrontofthelifefashion----fastfood,whichenteredthousandsofhouseholds,byitsconvenienceandfastadvantages.

TheMcDonald'swasthefirstfastfoodrestaurantwhichhaseverbeenbuilt.Bythistime,theotherfamousfast-foodbrandsjustlikeKFC,PizzaHutwhicharetheworld'sthreetopfastfoodbrandsfromAmericahadbeenknownbyallthepeople,theyconstitutedapowerfulfastfoodworldanddevelopedrapidly.Peoplecouldfindthesefast-foodchainseasilyallovertheworld.However,High-caloriefastfoodasahigh-fatfoodisnotsuitableforeating.Thisboomingbusinessdoeshavedouble-sidedeffectsontheeconomyandthequalityofpeople’slife.

ThispapermainlystudiestheAmericanfastfood.Thefirstandsecondpartsanalyzedthehistoryoffastfood.Thethirdpartdiscussesthedevelopmentandthecultureoffastfood.Thefourthparttellpeoplethewhyfastfoodissopopular;Thefifthpartanalysesthefastfoodeffectsonthequalityofpeople’slifefromthepositivesideandthenegativeside.Thesixthpartisconclusion,whichpointsoutthathowtolookonthefastfoodandthefastfoodculturecorrectly,inthehopeofhelpingthereaderstounderstandthefastfoodandfastfoodcultureinabetterwayandtoabsorbthebenefitelementsforthebetterdevelopmentofhumanbodyandmind.

在不同的文化背景下,每个民族的饮食也迥然不同。

随着现在生活节奏的加快,一种新的饮食方式很快占据了生活时尚的前沿,那就是快餐,快餐以其快捷、方便的优势迅速的走人千家万户。

麦当劳是快餐业的首家快餐店。

之后,来自美国的世界三大品牌肯德基,麦当劳,必胜客快餐店也众所周知,他们构成了一个强而有力的快餐帝国并迅速发展。

人们可以在世界的任何地方看到他们的影子。

然而,快餐作为一种高热量高脂肪的食品又影响着人们的健康。

这种蓬勃发展的商业不仅对经济,同时也对人们的生活质量产生着双重影响。

本文主要研究了美国的快餐。

第一,二部分简述快餐历史;第三部分论述快餐的发展;第四部分介绍快餐文化大受欢迎的原因;在此基础上文章第五部分进一步论述了饮食文化对人们生活的积极和消极影响;文章最后一部分指出应正确看待快餐和快餐文化。

Fastfoodisbecomingmoreandmorepopulararoundtheworldtheseyears.Itisestimatedthattherearemorethan100branchesofMcDonald’sandKFConlyinBeijing.Buttheword“fastfood”isverymodern,fashion,andhardtobefoundinmanydictionariesuntil1955.Suchaconceptionwasintroducedfromforeigncountries.Theappearancesofthefast-foodarouseanewthingnamed“fast-foodculture”,andalsothedebateaboutthisculturebypeople.

Inthecurrentsociety,thefastfoodculturehasalreadydevelopedtobeakindofcommonculturewhichbecomesamainstream.Comparewithdinner,thefast-foodisaseasoning,anewcurrent.Asifeatingbecomesanburdenwhilethespeedofpeople’sdailylivesrunningfasterandfaster,thusthefast-foodbecomesverypopulartothepeoplewhoworkeddayandnight.

Livinginasofast-pacedlifenearlyalmostnotimetospare,itisobviousthatpeoplearepayinglittleattentiontotheimportanceofhaveahealthylife.oneofwhichishygienicnutritiousfood.Burgers,pizza,friedstuffwithcheese,Frenchfriesandallsuchfooditemswhichcanbepreparedandservedquicklyarenamedasfast-foodandhavealargegroupofconsumersfromallagegroups.Fastfoodisbasicallyon-the-gofood,quicklymade,andservedwithinminutesforthepeoplewholeadfast-pacedlives.Fastfoodjointsandkioskseasyspotsforpeopletoeitherhavetheirfastfoodorjustgettheirtake-awaymealswhileontheirwaytoworkorgotoschool.Today,manypeopleeatfastfoodinsteadofhomemadefood.Thereasonisthatfastfoodisfast,cheapandconvenient.Fromthetermsofage,notonlytheyoungpeopleeatfastfood,butalsothemiddle-agedorsomeelderly;fromagenderperspective,notonlymeneatfastfood,butalsowomen;fromtheclasspointofview,notonlythepoor,butalsomiddle-levelwhite-collarworkers,aswellashigh-levelofficials.Inaword,fastfoodisverypopularfornearlyallthepeople.

Ontheonehand,fast-foodindustrycannotonlyimprovethedevelopmentofeconomic,butalsoprovidejobsforpeople.Itprovidesalargeprofitforthegovernment.Ontheotherhand,theemergenceoffastfoodhasanegativeeffectontheenvironmentandhumanhealth.BecausetheFrenchfriesarefriedbyanimalfatwithhighcholesterol,itendstoarousefatandriskofcardiovasculardisease.Sincefastfoodhasbecomeaculture,itcertainlyinfluencesthesocietyandpeople’slife.AsanalysisofthisphenomenoncandescrythatthepurposeoftheU.S.fast-foodproductionandsupplysystemispursuitof“efficiencyandprofits”,althoughthefastfoodoperatorsandfoodsuppliershavemadeafortune,theenvironment,animals,workers,consumershavetopayaheavyprice.Peoplecanonlystandinthedifferentpositiontodoadescriptionofthefactsandinhopingthattolookonthefastfoodandthefastfoodculturecorrectly.

OneofthegreatpioneersofthefastfoodindustrywasamannamedCarlKarcher.HewasafarmboywhogrewupinOhio.Attheageof24,hemovedtoCalifornia,workingathisuncle’sfactory.LikemostAmericans,hewantedtoworkhardandhaveagreatlife.In1939,Carlwantedtogointobusinessforhimselfandpurchasedahotdogcart.Hebeganhis“curbservice”ofsellinghotdogsonthestreettocustomersastheydroveupintheircars.PeopledidnotwanttohavetogetoutoftheircarstoeatandsoCarl’sbusinessflourished.WithinfivemonthsafterCarlboughtthecart,hewasabletobuyasecondoneandcontinuehisdream.Beforelong,heopenedadrive-inrestaurantcalled“Carl’sDrive-InBarbeque”.Atthissametime,thisnewwayofeatinginone’scarwasbecomingthebiggestthingever.Itwasconsideredreallycooltogotoadrive-inrestaurantforaburgerorhotdog.Waitressesknownas“carhops”usuallydressedveryattractivelydeliveredthefoodtoeachcar.Forteenagers,thiswastheplacetobeespeciallyforguys.Andformthenon,fastfoodbecamemoreandmorepopular.

Duringthattime,twobrothersnamedRichardandMauriceMcDonaldlefttheirhomeinNewHampshireandseekingjobsinsouthernCalifornia.Atfirsttheytriedopeningatheaterbutitwasnotasuccess.Thentheycaughtontothenewcrazeofeatingatdrive-inrestaurantsandtheyopenedonein1939,inPasadena,California,callingit“McDonald’sFamousHamburgers”.Informer,TheMcDonaldbrothersgrewtiredofhavingtohirenewcarhopsandshort-ordercooksallthetime,soattheendofthe1940’s,theyfiredeveryoneintheirrestaurant.Theyevenweretiredofreplacingglassware,dishesandsilverwaresotheydecidedtoclosetherestaurantandre-openedwitha“new”McDonald’s,onethatdidnotuseanydishes,silverwareorglasses.Everythingswitchedovertopaperandplastic.Therewasnolongeraneedforshort-ordercooksaseachemployeehiredonlyhadtolearnonespecifictask,i.e.maketheFrenchfriesormaketheburgersordeliverthefood,etc.Foodwasmadewitha“SpeedServiceSystem”designedbytheMcDonaldbrothersanditrevolutionizedtherestaurantbusiness.(

KFC,shortedfromKentuckyFriedChicken,isachainoffastfoodrestaurantsbasedinLouisville,Kentucky.KFChasbeenawhollyownedsubsidiaryofYumBrandssince2002.ThecompanywasfoundedasKentuckyFriedChickenbyColonelHarlandSandersin1952.Thecompanyadoptedtheabbreviatedformofitsnamein1991.StartinginApril2007,thecompanybeganusingitsoriginalappellationofKentuckyFriedChickenagainforitssignage,packagingandadvertisementsintheUnitedStatesaspartofanewcorporatere-brandingprogram;newerandremodeledrestaurantswillhavethenewlogoandnamewhileolderstoreswillcontinuetousethe1991signage.Additionally,thecompanycontinuestousetheabbreviationKFCfreelyinitsadvertising.InternationallythecompanyisstillknownasKFC.
