I.Lead-in（20’）

1.Roughintroductionofreligionswillbegiven.Theconceptanddefinitionofreligionswillbeclarifiedandtheoriginofreligionswillbediscussed.Referentialanswerswillbeprovided.

1）ReligionisBeliefintheexistenceofasupernaturalrulingpower,thecreatorandcontrolleroftheuniverse,whohasgiventomanaspiritualnaturewhichcontinuestoexistafterthedeathofthebody.

Religionisbeliefinagodorgodsandtheactivitiesthatareconnectedwiththisbelief,suchasprayerorworshipinachurchortemple.Thewordreligionissometimesusedinterchangeablywithfaithorbeliefsystem,butitismorethanprivatebeliefandhasapublicaspect.Mostreligionshaveorganizedbehaviors,congregations（gatheringofpeople）forprayer,priestlyhierarchies（organizationwithgradesofauthorityfromlowesttohighest）,holyplacesandscriptures（sacredbookofareligion.e.g.theBible经文）.

2）Wheredoesreligioncomefrom?

Humanswereweakandignorantoftheforcesofnaturethatsurroundedthem.Theywereatthemercyofthetheseforcesandthereforedevisedascheme（thinkoutorderedsystem）ofgodsandspiritstowhomtheycouldprayforsupport.Religionwasdevelopedbyafewasameansofsuppressingthemasses.BelieverssaythatGodrevealedreligionandreligioustruthstohumanbeingsatsomepointintheirdevelopment.

2.Majorreligionsoftheworldwillbeintroduced,mainlyfocusingonthetypeofreligion,itsholybook,symbolandgodworshipped,itsfollowersandhouseofworship.

3.ArelativedetailedintroductiontoChristianity.

1）IntroductiontoChristianity.Christianityisthelargestworldreligionatthemoment.Ithasover2billionfollowers,whoclassifythemselvesunder34,000differentdenominations.Initially,ChristianitywasderivedfromJudaism,asJesusChristwasaJew,aswerehistwelvedisciples.Christianityisbasedmainlyaroundthelife,deathandresurrectionofJesusChrist,ChristiansbelieveintheBiblebeingthewordofGod.

MaingroupingofChristianity:

Catholic,Orthodox,Protestant.

2）BeliefsandPrinciples:

ChristiansbelievethatJesusChrististheanointedsaviouroftheworldandthathispresenceonearthwasthefulfillmentoftheprophesiesmadeintheOldTestamentabouttheMessiahwhowastocomeandsavehumanityfromtheirsins.ThiswasachievedforChristians,bythedeathandresurrectionofJesusChrist,wherebyhedefeatedSatanandpaidthepriceforallthesinintheworld.Theconsequenceofthisisthatanyonewhoacceptsthisbeliefisgiveneternallifeandfreedomfromsin.ChristiansholdthatJesuswillreturnonJudgmentDaytofulfilltherestoftheOldTestamentprophesies,tojudgethelivingandthedeadandestablishGod’skingdominthenewcreation.AccordingtotheGospels,JesuswasconceivedbytheHolySpiritandborntotheVirginMaryinBethlehem.NotmuchissaidaboutJesus’childhood,buthislastyearsonearthwereheavilydocumentedintheGospels.ChristiansconsiderJesus’death,resurrectionandascensiontobethemostimportantdoctrinesintheirfaith.ThisisbecauseJesusshowshisomnipotenceoverdeathandultimatelyisthemostconvincingevidenceforChristiansthatheisfullyGod.
