Abstract  ：

Nowadays towns and cities have grown rapidly as people have moved from the countryside. It is called urbanization. Because of the arrival of large numbers of migrants from the countryside, the urban areas have strain onplanning and administration to cope

with the extra population.  

Aswecansee, urbanization will bring about unprecedented economic benefits,

and on the cultural aspect, there are still positives to the situation.

But for all the benefits brought about by urbanization, we can not overlook a series of

problems dominating the whole process of urbanization. Theintegratedevolutionofurbanizationhasaprofoundeffectontheresources,energyandtheenvironment,makingthelandresourcesandenergysecuritysituationunderseverepressure.Theenvironmentpressureisalsoincreasedfurther.

Anyway, urbanization is a tendency which can increase a country’s economy on a grand scale. We may successfully sort out a solution by controlling the speed of urbanization and making the most of its advantages to deal with the problems in the end.

Ever since the nineteenth century, China has been experiencing rapid development. The issue of urbanization has long been inevitable trend. For many people today, the urbanization can bring countless benefits to the development of Chinese economy, while still quite a lot of people tend to pessimistic, believing that urbanization will mire down the economy in mud. 

Admittedly, the urbanization brings us a series of social problems. For instance, it can result in the social problems such as environmental pollution, traffic jam, the explosion of population, housing shortage, rising in unemployment, etc, which are inevitable during its process. It is clear that, however, it doesn’t mean that it’s totally without merit. 

First and foremost, urbanization will bring about unprecedented economic benefits. A good example to illustrate is that with the success of World Expo, the Shanghai-Hangzhou high-speed railway line will cut the journey time between the two cities, which, then, will increase marketing interactions between these two cities and eventually foster economic growth to GDP of the nation. In addition, many diplomatic ties have been made between China and other nations, which attracted trans-national cooperation to construct factories in mainland as it saves labor cost. Job opportunities are provided for the locals, which again promotes new technological development in China. 

Nonetheless, on the cultural aspect, there are still positives to the situation. As more and more people from alien countries move into China for work, China is becoming globalized, which gives young people an advantage as they witness different 

cultures around them and sense the feeling that they belong in a global community.      From the foregoing, we have the confidence that we can benefit a lot from the urbanization as long as we run the urbanization in a scientific and sustainable way.

But for all the benefits brought about by urbanization, we can not overlook a series of problems dominating the whole process of urbanization. 

As cities are abundant in resources and opportunities, more and more people tend to live in cities. Our living space, at the same time, is decreasing with the expansion of the city population. These people who are from country sides, towns and other areas move to cities to live. The city dwellers’ number is too considerable which we can not ignore. Everyone knows that if a certain kind of product’s output is limited and it’s needed by large number of people, its price will go higher. The price of dwelling or houses is continually rising, especially in China. The housing prices in some regions is going so mad that only billionaires can afford it. That’s why many young people who were born after 1980s are too poor to buy their own apartments. SomoreandmoreyoungpeoplestarttheWOJUlife.

 Well,As we all know, the urbanization is an inevitable result of the industrialization. And there is no doubt that the urbanization did bring varieties of social problems. But can we stop the step of social industrialization just because of these problems?

To one person, the way to success and dream is always full of obstacles and problems, and it is just the same to the whole human society. And I think what we should do is not to escape, but face it directly and try to solve it. Science is a sword with double cutting edge, but can we abandon this sword just because of that?

 No, the wise choice is to try to control both edge of it. Just as the Chinese idiom goes:

 “Make best use of advantages and bypass the disadvantages.”

With the advancement of global economies, cities have greatly acquired development. In contrast, rural areas difficultly enhance by the shortage of conditions. As a result of that, the rural residents desire to move to urban areas to seek opportunities to change the living conditions. However, the excess of rural migration which move to cities has caused a series of severe problems. It would widely influence the live of both urban dwellers and migrants.

The rapid growth of urban population which mainly comes from the rural areas has caused a severe problem of the basic infrastructure services. The insufficiency of access to water would be the most important problem.

Another main problem which is due to the urbanization is the damage of the environment. It is probable that the environment would be more vulnerable by the over growth of urban population. the concentration of people in cities will increase the pressure to expand housing and commercial space which may destroy the environment by using formerly swamps or wetlands, and cutting forest.  that there are 80% of CO emissions which include 75% industrial wood use were created from cities . In addition, the levels of particulates and sulfur dioxide in some Chinese major cities is five to ten times higher than that in developed countries. The pollution of soot, dust and lead and the microbial diseases would be the great threats of human health in developing countries .

Despite the growing serious problems of urbanization has affected the urban expansion be uncontrollable, there are strategies can be implemented to manage the development of urban areas, such as urban planning, access of water and sanitation and efficient transportation. In addition, the corporation of central governments and local communities can advance the effectiveness of the strategies. It is possible that the circumstances of residents of slums or squatter settlements would be improved by the effectual implementation of strategies.

To improve the living standards and environment in the urban slums, a series of strategies must be implemented. Enhancing the basic infrastructure will be a top priority. Firstly, ensuring the access of water and sanitation services to promote the environment and avoid diseases water pipes necessitate to be fixed to prevent the lost of water. It is essential that providing appropriate sanitation facilities, such as latrines. Similarly, the management of pollution and resource can also conduce to the environment. The dust collection and filtering systems can considerably reduce the industrial and power plant output . Furthermore, housing program can also be implemented to tackle the problems of living in slum or squatter settlements.

Can you imagine living in a world without urbanization?

 Urbanization does cause the environment problems, but without it, we would not have the chance to live in the comfortable and safe house; Urbanization does cause the traffic jam, but without urbanization, we can’t nearly go anywhere except the nearby towns; Urbanization dose cause unemployment, but without it, we would have to go outside, hunting for food. Instead of staying trapped in a stone cave, we headed towards the starry sky, that, is the most precious spirit of human, which makes us master of this world!

 In one word, urbanization makes our life better.
