ManagingAllchromPlusClient/Server

AllchromPlusClient/Serversystemscanbeinstalledinavarietyofconfigurationstosatisfytheneedsoftheindividualcompany:

singlestand-alonedatasystemwithinstrumentsattached,multiplestand-alonedatasystemsonanetworkwithoutadomaincontroller（non-WindowsNTnetwork）,ClientsandServersonanon-WindowsNTnetwork,orClientsandServersonaWindowsNTnetworkusingadomaincontroller.SystemAdministrationfunctionsareavailableforallconfigurationstomaximizethesecurityandefficiencyofthedatasystems.

Client/ServerNTEnvironments

WhenAllchromPlusClient/ServersystemsarenetworkedusingaWindowNTcomputerasadomaincontroller,securityprivilegesaregrantedtousersandgroupsforresources（AllchromPlusorotherwise）thataresharedonthenetworkthroughthedomaincontroller.TheAllchromPlusClient/ServerSystemAdministratorthenconfigurestheAllchromPlusClient/Serverenterprise,configuresinstruments,definesprojects,andassignsusersorgroupsaccessprivilegestoprojectsandinstrumentswithintheenterprise.Projectdefinitionandediting,andassignmentofuserandgroupaccessandprivilegesareaccomplishedusingtheAllchromPlusClient/ServerSystemAdministrationWizards.

SystemAdministrationcapabilitiescanbeassignedtoasmanyusersasrequired.TheSystemAdministrationfunctionissetaspartoftheUserWizard.

AccesstotheSystemAdministrationfunctionsfromtheAllchromPlusClient/ServerMainMenuareavailablewheninSystemAdministrationMode.ToturnONSystemAdministrationMode,selecttheToolsmenu,thenclickonSystemAdministrationMode…,orclicktheKeybuttononthecommandribbon

EnableAdministration

OncetheSystemAdministrationfunctionisstarted,youwillbepromptedtolog-intoestablishyourprivilegetothesefunctions.

Typeyourassignedusername,followedbyyourpassword,andselecttheNTdomainyouareusing.

Ifyoursystemdoesnotuseadomaincontroller,yourlog-inscreenwillnotdisplaya“domain”choice.

Onceyouhavelogged-in,theSystemadministrationfunctionsandbuttonsonthemenubarwillbecomeactive.

SelectSystemAdministrator

Thefirsttimeyourunthesoftwareafterinstallation,youwillbepresentedwithadialogwhereyoumustdesignateyourSystemAdministrator.

Toselectasingleadministrator,selectthecorrectdomain,thenclicktheUsersbuttontoviewtheusersofthedomain.Clickauserfromthelist,thenclickOktoestablishthisuserastheAllchromPlusClient/ServerSystemAdministrator.

Note:

YoucangivesystemadministrationcapabilitiestoadditionalusersthroughtheSystemAdministrationUserWizard.

WorkstationandEnterpriseOptions

OnceyouhaveenabledSystemAdministrationmode,andhavesuccessfullyloggedontothesystem,youhaveaccesstosettingtheWorkstation,Enterprise,andGeneralOptions.ThisareaallowsyoutoselectorchangethetypeofenvironmentforyourAllchromPlusClient/Serversystem（s）.ToaccesstheWorkstationandEnterpriseOptions,selectTools/Options…fromthemenubar.

WorkstationOptions

Thistaballowsyoutosetoptionsthatapplytoyourworkstation.

Enterprisemachine:

Ifyouareusingthenetworkdomaintosupplyuserlists,youmustspecifyaWindowsNTmachineonthenetworkthatisalsorunningthisapplication.Thismachinewillsupplynetworkinformation.Theenterprisemachineselectedduringinstallationisdisplayedbydefault.Youmaychangethemachinebytypingitsenterprisenameinthefield,orbyselectingitfromalistofenterprisemachinesbyclickingthefileopenbutton.Theenterprisemachinemustbethesameforallclientsandserversintheenterprise.

ThisoptionisnotavailableifyouhavechosentheObtainuserlistfromDataSystemselectionintheEnterpriseOptions.

Statusupdateinterval

WheninstrumentsaredisplayedinthemainmenuinDetail,thecurrentstatusofeachinstrumentisshown（e.g.Idle,Available,InUse）.Youcanselecthowoftentheinstrumentstatusdisplayisupdatedusingthisfield.Selectthenumberofsecondsyouwishtohavebetweenstatusupdates.

Displaythefollowingwarningsandconfirmations?

Ifyouwanttoviewwarningsandconfirmationswhenyouclosetheapplications,selectthecheck-box.

EnterpriseOptions

Selecttheenterprisetabtovieworchangethecurrentsettingsforyourenterprise.

InstrumentControlmode

SelectStandAloneifyouwillbedoingdataacquisitionandcontrolforinstrumentsconnecteddirectlytotheAllchromPlusdatasystemworkstation.

SelectClient/ServerifyouwillbedoingdataacquisitionandcontrolforinstrumentsconnectedtooneormoreServers.

Enableinstrumentloginandprojectmanagement

Selectthisboxtoturnonthesecurityfunctionsforloginandprojectmanagement.Ifthisboxisnotselected,youwillnotberequiredtologinwhenaccessinginstrumentoradministrationfunctions.Thisboxshouldnormallybeselected,exceptinsingle-userlabsorwhereinstrumentorprojectaccesssecurityisnotanissue.

Obtainuserlistfrom:

SelectDataSystemifyouareeitherrunningastand-alonedatasystem（notnetworked）oryouarenotusingadomaincontrollerforyournetwork.

SelectDomainControllerifyouareconnectedtoaWindowsNTnetworkwithadomaincontroller.

Allowpasswordstobesaved

Whenthisboxischecked,theuser’spasswordwillbesavedwhentheuserlogsintothesystem,andsubsequentloginswillnotrequiretheusertoentertheirpassword.Thisoptionisdesignedforsystemswhereonlyoneuserwillbeusingaclientworkstation.Becausethepasswordsaresaved,systemsecurityisdecreased.

Selectdomainstobescanned

Clickonthebox（es）nexttothedomain（s）youwishtoscanforusers/groups.UsetheAddDomainbuttontoselectadomaintobeaddedtothepossibledomainslisted.UsetheRemovebuttontodeleteadomainfromthelistafterhighlightingitwiththemouse.TheRefreshbuttonupdatesthelistofcurrentdomains.

Ifyouarenotusingadomaincontrollertoobtainuserlists,alistofcurrently-definedusersforyourworkstationwillbedisplayed.

Lockoutsetup

Selectthisbuttontoviewtheoptionsforsettinguploginlockout.

EnterpriseOptionsforStandAloneDataSystems

Ifyouarenotworkinginaclient/serverenvironment,youshouldsetupyourenterpriseoptionsforlocalaccess.

InstrumentControlmode

SelectStandAloneifyouwillbedoingdataacquisitionandcontrolforinstrumentsconnecteddirectlytotheAllchromPlusdatasystemworkstation.

Enableinstrumentloginandprojectmanagement

Selectthisboxtoturnonthesecurityfunctionsforloginandprojectmanagement.Ifthisboxisnotselected,youwillnotberequiredtologinwhenaccessinginstrumentoradministrationfunctions.Thisboxshouldnormallybeselected,exceptinsingle-userlabsorwhereinstrumentorprojectaccesssecurityisnotanissue.

Obtainuserlistfrom:

SelectDataSystemifyouareeitherrunningastand-alonedatasystem（notnetworked）oryouarenotusingadomaincontrollerforyournetwork.

Allowpasswordstobesaved

Ifyouarenotusingadomaincontrollertoobtainuserlists,alistofcurrentlydefinedusersforyourworkstationwillbedisplayed.Toaddauser,clicktheAddUserbutton,andcompletethedialog.Todeleteauser,selecttheusernamefromthelist,andclickDeleteUser.

Thisdialogallowsyoutoaddausernameandpasswordwhowillhaveaccesstoyourdatasystemthatisnotusingadomaincontroller.
