Nowadays,China’saverageyieldofriceisabout500kgpermu.Ordinaryfarmerscanproduce600kgto700kgofricepermubygrowingsomeexcellentsecond-generationhybridricevarieties.However,underthesameplantingconditionsandenvironment,theyieldofthethird-generationhybridricecouldreach800kgpermu.Chinanowfeedsaround20percentoftheworld’spopulationwithlessthan9percentoftheworld’sfarmingland.
