　　Adescriptionoftheauthor’stimesshouldbegiventogetherwithabriefaccountofhislife.Itshouldincludethecircumstancesthatledtothewritingofthebookunderdiscussionandthehistoricalandsocialbackgroundrelatedtothecontentofthebook.Tomakethesethingsclear,thewriterperhapsneedstoreadsomereferencematerial,suchasbiographiesoftheauthorandhistoriesoftheperioddescribedinthebook.

　　2.WritingoftheBookReport

　　1）Thesummaryofthebookshouldbeself-contained,clear,andeasytounderstand.Aboveall,itshouldbeobjective.

　　2）Commentsonandcriticismsofthebookshouldnotbemixedwiththesummary;theycanbelefttothethirdpart.

　　3）Thesummaryofanoveloraplayisusuallywritteninthepresenttense,whilethatofnonfiction,inthetenseoftheoriginalwork:

forexample,thepasttenseshouldbeusedforahistory,andthepresentforascientificwork.

　　4）Commentsonandevaluationofthebookfromthethirdandmostimportantpartofabookreport.Inthispartthewriterexpresseshisorherownviewsonthebook,namesitsmeritsanddemerits,anddiscussesitsrelevancetothepresenttime.Thediscussionshouldcenteronthecontentofthebook,buttheauthor’sstyleandtechniquesofpresentation,ifinteresting,canalsobetouchedupon.

　　1.Identification.Givethetitleandauthor’sname.Ifthebookisonewithwhichyourreadersmaynotbefamiliar,identifyitfurther.Givethenameofthepublisher,theplaceandyearofpublication,theprice,andthenumberofpages.

　　2.Classification.Awordorphraseearlyinyourreporthelpsthereaderkeepinmindthetypeofbookonwhichyouarereporting;mystery,biography,humor,adventure,andsoon.Yourreadercanthenmentallycompareitwithsimilarbookshehasread.

　　3.Description.Askillfulbookreportgivesanoverallviewofabookwithoutgivingawayitsoutcome.Yourdescriptionofabookmayincludequotationsorbriefsketchesofscenesoractionthatyouthinkarerepresentativeofthebook.Takenoteswhilereading.Itwillsaveyouthetimeandtroubleofthumbingthroughthebooklatertorelocatequotationsorotherinformation.

　　4.Evaluation.Youropinionisthemostimportantpartofthereport.Itmaybeeitheryourimmediatereactiontothebookorajudgmentbasedonfurtherstudy.Ineithercase,youropinionshouldbedefiniteandclear.Itshouldbesupportedwithfacts.Youwillwanttocommentoncharacterizations,plot,andrecurringthemes.Compareorcontrastittootherbooksyou’veread.Writeawordofcriticismorpraisewhilereading.Itwillhelpyourecallyourimpressionofthematerialafteryouhavefinishedthebook.

　　Writingbookreportscanbeavaluableexerciseinclearthinkingandprecisewriting.Italsogivesyoutheopportunitytoimproveyourwritingandtodevelopastyleofyourown.

　　内容的几个部分可以成若干个段落写，但不能出现1，2，3，4序号字样；

　　英文中没有书名号,书名斜体；注意其他英文标点符号使用及字母大小写的规范；字体为TimesNewRoman,字号为小四号，行距为固定值20磅；
