Abstract
Underthetremendousinfluenceofthesourcetext-orientedtheory,theprinciples
andtherelatedmethodstodealwiththeculturaldifferencesinliteraryworksarose
bountifully,buttheydidn'tbreakawayfromthebaseofthesourcetexts,thusputting
translationintoapredicamentofdiscussinghowthetotransmitthecultural
significanceinthesourcetextsmorefaithfullyonthebasisofthetranslatabilityofthe
originaltextandthereadabilityofthetranslatedversions.
Thispaper,throughasystematicretrospectionandanalysisofthetraditional
translationtheories,tendstopointouttheinadequaciesoftherelatedtheoriesintheir
guidancefortheculturaldifferencetranslation.
ReceptionAestheticsfindsnewentranceandsolutionsfortranslationstudies.
Aftermakingabriefillustrationoftheformationofthetheory,thepapermainly
focusesonthecloserelationshipbetweenReceptionAestheticsandtranslationandthe
centralconceptsthatcanbeappliedtothetreatmentoftheculturaldifferencesin
translationpractices.Then,withWolfgangIserandHansRobertJauss'insightful
conceptsofreader'sroleandstatusandthefusionofhorizonsbetweenthereaders
andthetranslatedworks,theauthoranalyzesandevaluatesthemethodsusedtodeal
withculturaldifferencesinFortressBesieged,anddrawstheconclusionthatthough
withsomeweakpoints,thetranslationofculturaldifferencesinthisworkis
successfulfromtheperspectiveofReceptionAesthetics.
Meanwhile,theauthoralsostatesthat,withtheco-existenceofmulti-culturesas
thepredominantsetting,thetranslationofculturaldifferencesshouldattach
importancetotheconsiderationofthetargetlanguagereaders'roleasreceptors;the
missionoftranslationisthefulfillmentofculturalexchange.

摘要
在“原语中心论”的长期统治和影响下,译学界对文化差异的处理原则
和方法虽然有很多,但都没有摆脱以原语文本为中心的根本,只是在以原文
的可译性和译文的可读性为出发点,来研究如何更忠实地传达原文中的文化
意义。
本文通过对传统翻译理论的回顾和分析,指出了其在指导文化差异翻
译方面存在的缺陷。
接受美学为翻译研究提供了新的空间和思路。
本文在简要叙述这一理论
的形成过程后,重点论述了接受美学和翻译的密切关系以及接受美学可用于
指导翻译实践中文化差异的处理的若干精义。
进而本文主要运用接受美学的
主将伊瑟尔的文本理论、读者的地位和作用的观点及姚斯的期待视野的理论
对《围城》的英译本中处理文化差异的方法进行了分析和评判,指出虽然也
有不足之处,《围城》英译本对文化差异的处理从接受美学的角度看是成功
的。
同时指出,在文化多元共存的大背景下,翻译应以文化交流为目的,译
文在文化差异的处理上应充分考虑作为接受者的译入语读者的地位和作用。

Translationiscross-culturalexchange.Thisdefinitionoftranslationdisclosesthe
closerelationshipbetweencultureandtranslation---ontheonehand,thecultural
exchangeandinfiltrationbetweendifferentnationsbecomealmostimpossibleif
withouttranslationpractices;ontheother,thereisnotranslationpracticethatdoesnot
involveculturalelements.
Culture,asacomplex,includesmaterialobjects,knowledge,beliefs,arts,ethics,
laws,customsandallthehumanhabitualactionsandcapacitiesacquiredfromthe
society.Todealwiththeseelements,thetranslationfieldapplieddifferenttacticsand
measuresalmostfromtheverybeginningofculturaltransmissionpractice.Howto
dealwithculturaldifferenceshasallalongbeenahotissueunderdiscussionthrough
outalltheseyearsofthedevelopmentofthetranslationstudies.Literalorfree?
Domesticationorforeignization?
Asfortheconcretemethodstochoose,many
scholarshaveprovidednumerousthingscateringforvariousspecificoccasions.The
fatalresultisthatbyofferingalotofsimilarcommentsorjudgmentsforvarious
kindsoftranslatedversionsconcerningculturaldifferences,theresearchoftranslation
studiesbegantocenteraroundonlythesourcelanguageitself,mainlyconcentrating
onthefaithfulnesstotheoriginaltext,thetranslatabilityoftheoriginaltextandthe
readabilityofthetranslatedversionuntiltheapplicationofReceptionAestheticsto
thisfield.
Offeringabrand-newdimensionforthisresearch,ReceptionAestheticsattaches
greatimportancetothestudyoftherelationshipbetweenreadersandtheworks,
admittingthereaders'creativefunctionfortheaestheticvalueandsignificanceofthe
works.Itholdsthatonlythroughthereaders'readingpracticesdoestheliterarywork
acquiretheirvalue.Intheliteraryresearchfield,ReceptionAestheticsistheone
whichconcentratesonthestudyoftherelationshipbetweenlanguagesandthereading
process,helpstotriggermanynewmattersunderdiscussion,looksatsomeold
problemsfromadifferentangle.Itsappearanceleadstothetransferofthecenterof
literarystudiesfromthetext-orientedto.thereaders-oriented,thusmakingthe
tendencyofliterarystudieschangefundamentally,whichgreatlyinfluencesthe
researchmethodsofliterarytheories.
