　　影片讲述的是少年派遇到一次海难，家人全部丧生，他与一只孟加拉虎在救生小船上漂流了227天，人与虎建立起一种奇特的关系，并最终共同战胜困境获得重生。

　　Pitellsustwostories.Oneisaboutthedriftbetweentheyoungmanandthetiger.Theotheroneisthatauthorconcludesthatcookhavekilledandatetheseaman,thenkilledPi’smother,eventuallyPikilledandatethecook.ThegrownPididn’tdeclareagainsttheconclusion.Instead,hejustaskedtheauthorthatwhichstorydoeshelike.GrownPisaidtheauthorbelievedingodafterhegottheanswer.少年派提供了两个故事供我们选择,一个是少年和老虎的漂流之旅;另一个是作家推断出来的厨子吃了水手，杀死妈妈，然后pi杀死了厨子并吃掉厨子的故事。

成年pi没有否认小说家的推断，只是问他喜欢哪个故事，得知对方喜欢第一个故事时，成年pi说对方看见了上帝。

　　Plot

　　PiwasborninIndia.HebelievesinChristianity,Islam,andHinduismatthesametime.Asthesonofazookeeper,Pihasaspecialknowledgeofanimalbehaviorandaferventloveofstories.WhenPiissixteen,hisfamilyemigratesfromIndiatoNorthAmericaaboardaJapanesecargoship,alongwiththeirzooanimalsboundfornewhomes.

　　派生在印度，他同时信仰基督教，伊斯兰教和印度教。

作为动物园饲养员的儿子，派对动物的习性有一种特殊的了解，并对故事有强烈的热情。

当他16岁的时候，他们全家通过一艘日本货船从印度移民到了加拿大，与之同行的还有他们众多的动物。

Inthefirst3days,thehyenaskilledthegorilla,livetoeatzebra,thetigerkillshyena.Piknewthathecan'tbeatRichard,sohemadethefinalchoicetogetalongwithRichardinthefaceofdriftlife.In7months,hecollectedwater,fishandshrimp,andusedalltheseasurvivalskillstofeedthetiger,alsotolethimselfdown..SoonthetigerhasdispatchedallbutPi,whosefear,knowledge,andcunningallowhimtocoexistwithRichardParkerfor227dayswhilelostatsea.WhentheyfinallyreachthecoastofMexico,RichardParkerfleestothejungle,nevertobeseenagain.

　　在接下来的三天，鬣狗吃了猩猩，斑马，最后老虎吃了鬣狗。

派知道他无法打败帕克，所以他选择和帕克一起面对这场漂流。

七个月后，派收集了水，鱼，小虾米，并用尽所有海洋求生的技能来饲养老虎帕克，同时也让帕克平静下来。

很快老虎就以经行动起来，而被恐惧，智慧和精明包围的的派也开始允许自己与帕克共同在这场海难中生活227天。

当他们最后终于到达墨西哥海滨的时候，帕克从船上跳下，在少年pi的注视下，帕克决绝得径直地走向森林入口，稍作停留，却不回头

　　当然，这场漂流也遭遇过暴雨，鲨鱼和各种惊险血腥的场面。

在食人岛稍作停留后，派又在惊吓中河帕克开始了新的漂流，直到他在墨西哥海滩被营救。

与此同时，帕克

　　头也没回，决绝地消失在丛林深处。

　　然而真相却是：

中年派向作家讲述另一个冒险的版本，他试图向保险公司掩饰，救生船上根本没有动物，而是一个厨师，一个断腿的水手，还有派和他的母亲。

厨师杀死并吃掉了水手，然后又杀了派的母亲，最后派也杀了并吃了厨师。

　　两个故事惟一的共同点就是：

派是惟一的幸存者。

但回顾繁琐的场景和细节，我们不难发现，第一个故事是现实的隐喻，第二个故事才是真的。

“动人的（剧情）和狂热的观众..."好莱坞记者如是说.

　　于是，《少年派》其实回答了《禁闭岛》最后的那一个“天问”,像野兽一样活着还是作为一个好人死去?

灵魂中的兽性与灵性能否两全?

《禁闭岛》给出的选择是：

消灭自己的灵魂以阻止自己的兽性，兽性与灵性一同灭亡。

《大只佬》给出的选择是：

以灵性取代兽性。

　　而《少年派》的选择是这样的：

做一个活着的好人，心中住着一只野兽。
