Section1Introduction
1.1Purpose
ThereareanumberofsystemsthatmaybeusedtoconducttestingtoCTIA’sTestPlanforWirelessDeviceOver-the-AirPerformance(OTATestPlan).Withtheadditionofnewtestingrequirementsinversion3.2.1oftheOTATestPlan(i.e.,A-GPSforLTE,LeftHand,LTETRP/TIS,etc.),systemvendors,andindividualsystemcomponentvendors,willberequiredtobeauthorizedbyCTIApriortobeingusedbyaCTIAAuthorizedTestingLaboratory(CATL).SystemsalreadyinuseataCATLwillundergoauditstothedeltasbetweenOTATestPlanversion3.1andversion3.2.1AteamofCTIA-appointedSubjectMatterExperts(SMEs)willconductoff-sitereviewsandvalidatecompliancetothenewtestrequirements.ValidatedsystemsandcomponentswillbeauthorizedbyCTIA.
ThepurposeofthisAssessmentandValidationRequirementsDocument(AVRD)istodefinetheprocessinwhich:
a)CTIAwillevaluateandauthorizetestsystemsandcomponentsforusebyCATLsfortheOTATestPlan.
b)LaboratoriesmaybecomeauthorizedasCATLsforversion3.2.1oftheOTATestPlan.
Itisrealizedthattestlabsutilizedifferentconfigurationsetups(i.e.,chamber,
positioners,RFandcommunicationinstrumentation,auxiliaryequipmentlikeantennas,RFpathswitching,applicationsoftware,phantoms,etc.).TheintentistovalidateeachconfigurationsuchthatalabwithavalidatedsetupcanundergoanefficientCATLauthorizationprocessforversion3.2.1oftheOTATestPlan.ShouldaCATLdecidetouseordevelopsystemsorcomponentsnotcurrentlyvalidatedandauthorized,thelabauditwillneedtobeexpandedtoincludecorrespondinglydetailedvalidationstepsbytheSMEteam,whichwilllikelyrequireanon-sitevisit.
1.2ApplicableDocuments
ThefollowingdocumentisapplicabletothisAVRD:

2.1Off-siteAudit
CTIASMEteamwillreviewthesystemvendor’svalidationdocumentationpackageforanysystemand/oranycomponents.
TheSMEteamwillevaluateequipmentconfigurations,laboratorytechniqueandtestmethodologiesforcompliancetoCTIACertificationstandards.Off-sitedocumentationmustcontainthefollowing:
∙MeasurementUncertainty(MU)calculations(provideyourverydetailedMUreportsintheformatofAppendixGintheOTATestPlan.)TheupdatedMUSpreadsheet,includedinthisAVRD,mustbeusedandfilledincompletely.ThiswillbetheofficialMUfortheoff-siteCATLdocumentreview.(MUcalculationsforthetestsolutionprovider’sbaselineconfigurations)
∙Verydetailedequipmentspecs.
∙Hardwareconfigurations
∙Verydetailedsoftwaredescriptions,softwareconfigurations,includingminimumversionnumber.
∙Systemsetupparameters,screenshots
∙Photosofthehardware.(i.e.,lefthandphantompositioningfixture,LTEA-GPStestsystem,anyotherphotosrequestedbytheauditor)
2.2TestSolutionMaterial
ThefollowingmaterialshallbesubmittedtotheSMEteamforreview.
2.2.1LeftHand
Thevendorshallsupplydetaileddocumentationincludingmanualandpositioningsetupinstructions(themanualmaybeaugmentedandorreplacedbyvideoorotherinstructions).
2.2.2A-GPSforLTE
Thesystemprovidershallsupplysystemparameterfiles(screenshots,inifiles,xmlconfigurationfiles,etc.)thatareinaccordancewithCTIAA-GPSOTAforLTEtestrequirementsthatthelabwilluseasabaselinewiththeirtestparameterfiles.
2.2.3LTETRP/TIS
Thesystemprovidershallsupplysystemparameterfiles(screenshots,inifiles,xmlconfigurationfiles,etc.)thatareinaccordancewithCTIAOTAforLTETRP/TIStestrequirementsthatthelabwilluseasabaselinewiththeirtestparameterfiles.
2.3Authorization
OncetheCTIASMEteamvalidatescompliancetoversion3.2.1oftheOTATestPlan,thevalidatedconfigurationwillbeaddedtothelistofCTIAauthorizedsystemsandcomponents,withtheexceptionoftheitemsrelatedto2.2.3whichwillonlybeusedbytheSMEteamtofacilitatetheCATLreviews.Note:
ItisnottheintenttovalidatetheLTE/TRP/TIStestsolutions.
CATLsapprovedforversion3.2.1oftheOTATestPlanmustuseCTIAauthorizedsystemsandcomponents.ShouldaCATLdecidetouseordevelopsystemsorcomponentsnotcurrentlyvalidatedandauthorized,thelabauditwillbeexpandedtoincludethedetailedvalidationstepsbytheSMEteamidentifiedinthisdocument.Oncecompleted,thenewlyvalidatedsystems/componentswillbeaddedtothelistofCTIAauthorizedsystemsandcomponents.

LPPsupportwillbewaivedinitiallyuntilwehaveacommercialreferencedevicetouseandtestsolutionscanbevalidated.
3.1A-GPSforLTEChecklists
3.1.1A-GPSforLTECATLChecklist
TheA-GPSforLTECATLChecklistshallbeusedbyCATLinordertoprovideevidenceandresponsestotheCTIASME.
3.1.2A-GPSforLTESystemValidationChecklist
TheA-GPSforLTESystemValidationChecklistshallbeusedbytheCTIASMEteamwhenvalidatingcompliancetoversion3.2.1oftheOTATestPlan.Forthepurposesofanyoff-sitesystemvalidationeffort,thesystemprovidershallusethechecklisttoprovideevidenceandresponsestotheCTIASMEteam.
3.2A-GPSforLTESystemValidationData
InadditiontotheOTAauditdocumentationperthechecklist,thefollowingA-GPSforLTESystemValidationdatashallbeprovidedbytheA-GPSforLTEOTAsystemproviderasevidenceofcompliancetothereferencedindustrystandards.ThevalidationdatashallbeprovidedforbothRRLPandLPPprotocols.
∙RuntheOTAversionsoftheGPSAccuracyandGPSSensitivitytests.TheGPSAccuracytestshouldshowasmanymeasurementsaswouldbedoneforthefullpatternforLTEBand4.Forallothermodesandbandsbelow,theGPSAccuracytestshouldshowaminimumoffive(5)GPSreportseachcontaininguptoeightC/N0values.
∙ThetestingmaybedoneconductedorradiateddependingonUEsupport.
∙ProvidereadableSUPL2.0messagelogscontainingRRLPpayloadorLPPpayloadassociatedwithallGPS-relatedmessaging.TheRRLPandLPPpayloadmessagesshouldalsobeinreadableformat.ThereadablemessagelogscanbeobtainedfromanymeansnecessaryandcanbederivedfromthenetworkemulatorlogsortheUElogs.
∙Providethetestreports/resultsthatalsoindicatethesetupparameters.Allkeyresultsthatareusedtodeterminepass/failforGPSsensitivityshallberecorded(e.g.,horizontallocationerror,codephaseerrors,etc.).Interimresultsforsensitivitysearchwouldbehelpful.TheGPSsensitivityresultswhenusingconductedtestingshallmeetthetestrequirementdefinedin3GPPTS37.571-1clause7.1.1.6forSub-TestNumber1.
∙SeeTable3-1forthebreakdownoftheteststhatneedtoberunpertechnology.TheUEpositioningmodeforLTEisapplicabletotheGPSsensitivitysearchonly.TheGPSAccuracytestwouldbedoneinUE-Assistedmodeforallcases.DuetoalimitationoftheSGH-i747,theUE-BasedsensitivitysearchwillnotyieldavalidresultsincethedevicedoesnotresetitsGPSinformationwhentheResetUEPositioningInformationmessageasdefinedin3GPPTS36.509issent.Therefore,thefollowinginformationshallbeprovidedbythetestsolutionproviderinlieuofthefinalsensitivitysearchresult.
oProvideatechnicalreportthatshowsevidenceoftheGPSresetbeingsentpriortoeachpositionrequest.Inordertoprovethis,theUE-BasedGPSsensitivitysearchtestwouldbeexecutedforaminimumoffive(5)positionrequests.ThereportshallindicatethetimestampsoftheGPSresetmessagesinrelationtoeachpositionrequestasdemonstratedinthelogfiles.IneachinstanceoftheGPSresetmessage,aWiresharklogoftheResetUEPositioningInformationmessageintheDLInformationTransfermessageshallbeprovidedtodemonstratecomplianceto3GPPTS36.509.
∙SignalLevelUncertainty
