1.Introduction
Collegelifeisnotonlycolorfulbutalsoanimportantperiodofourwholelife.Inrecentyears,moreandmoresparetimearegivenoncampus.So,howtomakethemostuseofoursparetimeisofgreatvalue.Forthatpurpose,thepresentsurveyismade.
1.1Purpose
Thesurveysetsitsgoalatinvestigatinghowdocollegestudentsusetheirsparetime.Andafteranalyzingandsummarizingthecurrentphenomenon,wecanstrivefortheconstructionofharmoniouscampus.
1.2Subjects
Inordertomakethesurveymorepersuasive,wedidtheresearchamongstudentsinouruniversity.130copiesofquestionnairesintotalwerehandedoutand110werecollectedbackwhichareeffective.Intervieweesarefromdifferentmajors,differentgrades.30ofthemarefreshmen,50aresophomore,30arejuniorstudents,20areseniorstudents.Inaddition,70ofthemaregirlsand60areboys.
1.3TimeandPlace
Time:
Thesurveytakesaboutoneweek,fromMay11thtoNovember17th,2013.ThequestionnairesweredistributedonMay11thandcollectedbackonMay13th.

1.4Instrument
Questionnairesareusedtocollectdata.ConsideringthequestionnaireinEnglishmaybringsometroubletotheintervieweeswithdifferentEnglishlevels,weadopttheChineseversioninsteadoftheEnglishone.Andwesurveyfromdifferentmajorsanddifferentgrades.
Theintervieweesareselectedatrandomtomakethedatamorereliable.Forinstance,thequestionnairesaregiventothestudentsstudyinginclassroomsandtothosestayingindormitories.What’smore,studentsfromallgradesaremadesuretoparticipateinthisinvestigation.
2.DataCollectionandAnalysis
On11thMay,weinvestigated130students,amongwhom110returnedtheirquestionnaires.Therestdidnotreturnorfinishforsomereasons.
Toensurethevalidityofthesurvey,thesevenmembersinourteamweredividedintothreegroupsofdifferenttasks.Somehandoutthequestionnaires,gotodifferentplacesandinvestigatedifferentstudents.Someareresponsiblefortheanalysis.Otherstakechargeofthewriting.Mostoftheintervieweeswerewillinglytohelpuswiththesurvey.Theyfinishedthequestionnairescarefully.Also,amongthequestionnairesreturned,somequestionswerenotanswered,andsomewereansweredcasually,whichbroughtussometroublewhenwedidthedatacollection.
Ingeneral,mostoftheinformationwecollectedwasusefulandaccurate.
2.1TimeAnalysis
AccordingtoQuestion2and4,wegetaresultasfollows(seeFigure1).

AsitcanbeseenfromFigure1,moststudentshavelotsofsparetime.Mostofthemhave6-8hoursforoneday.Thefreshmanandsophomoreevenhavemore.Andjuniorstudentshaveless.
Reasons:
1)Thefreshmenhavemoresparetimebecausetheyhavelesssubjectsandmorestudentsoftenpaymoreattentiontothegamesandpart-timejobs,insteadofstudy.
2)Thesophomorehavenotbeguntohavetheirprofessionalcoursesandtheircoursesareless.
3)Thejuniorstudentsneedalotoftimefortheircourses.Moreover,mostofthemwantspendingmoretimestudying.
2.2ObjectiveAnalysis
Questions10,11,12,13and14aredesignedtoknowthecollegestudents’viewsandchoicesonsparetime.
2.2.1StudyAspectAnalysis
AccordingtoQuestions10and13,wegetaresultasfollows

Thereare25%ofthestudentswhoalwayskeepstudying,theirlearningtimetakeonmorethan80%oftheirsparetime.Becausetheythinklearningisalwaysimportant.
Thereare55%ofthestudentswhoselearningtimetakeonabout50%~80%oftheirsparetime.Theythinklearningisimportant,buttheotheraspectsarealsoimportant,forexample,entertainmentandpart-timejobs.
Thereare16%ofthestudentswhoselearningtimetakeonabout20%~50%oftheirsparetime.Thiskindofstudentsthinklearningisnotveryimportant.Sotheydon’tspendmoretimeinstudying.
Thereareonly4%ofthestudentswhodolittlestudying,theirlearningtimetakeonmerelylessthan12%oftheirsparetime.Intheirview,learningisnotimportantatall.Theydon’tthinktheycangetknowledgeintheuniversity.Sotheyspendtimeinmakingmoneyoramusement.
2.2.2LifeAspectAnalysis
Thestudentshavedifferentarrangementsintheirsparetime.WecangainthefollowingFigurewhichisbasedonthequestions12and14.

Studentsspendabout25%oftheirtimeinsleeping,about22%insurfingtheinternet,almost21%instudying,about12%indating,about10%inexercising,andonly5%inactivities.
Reasons:
Instudents’dailylife,sleepingoccupiesmostofthetime,playingcomputersalsotakesonabigpart,butproportionofstudyingisnotmorethanthefirsttwo.Becauseintheiropinions,university’lifeisboring.Theydon’thavepressurelikeinhighschool.Theyalsothinkit’snotnecessarytogetknowledgeinuniversity,sotheyspendmosttimeinsleepingandplayingcomputers.Only10%ofthestudentskeepexercising,sothewayofsomestudents’lifeinuniversityislazyandunhealthy.
2.2.3PhysicalActivityFrequencyAnalysis
Question12isdesignedtoknowaboutthecollegestudents’frequencyofphysicalactivityinaweek.

About59%ofthestudentshaveexercisesonceortwiceaweek.About20%ofthestudentshaveexercises2-5timesaweek.Studentswhohardlyhaveexercisesoccupyabout15%inuniversity.Only6%ofthestudentskeepexercisesmore5timesaweek.
Reasons:
Onlyasmallpartofstudentshaveexerciseregularly,andmostofthestudentsdon’thaveexercisehabits,peoplewhochoosetostayindormitoryaregrowing.
2.3SubjectiveAnalysis
BasedonQuestion15and16,wegetFigure5below.

About35%ofthestudentshaveacademiclecturesintheirsparetime,about52%ofthestudentshavefungames,andonlyabout13%ofthestudentshaverecreationalactivitiesintheirsparetime.
Reasons:
Generallyspeaking,studentsarenotwillingtocommunicatewithstrangers.Differentpeoplehavedifferentadvantages,sostudentsshouldtakeactivitiesbasedontheirinterest.Wehopestudentscanlearnsomethingusefulinsparetime,andpromotevarioussocialskillsandpracticalability.
2.4SatisfactionofArrangingSpareTime
AccordingtothestatisticsbasedonQuestions17and18,wecanlearntheirsatisfactionofarrangingsparetime.

Thereare25%ofthestudentsfeelverysatisfied.Intheiropinions,theyshouldlearntoimprovethemselves.
Thereare33.3%ofthestudentsfeelmoresatisfied.Accordingtotheirplansandarrangementwork,theycanexercisetheirabilityofvariousaspects.
Thereare33.2%ofthestudentsdon’tfeelsatisfied.Theythinktheyshouldparticipateinpracticeactivities,sotheycangainsomekindofabilityfromit.
Thereare8.5%ofthestudentsfeelhardlysatisfied.Asfarastheyareconcerned,theyhavenomotivation,nocleargoals,andtheyareconfusedabouttheirfuture.
3.Conclusions
Throughthesurvey,wearehappytoknowthatmostofthecollegestudentshavethedesiretomaketheircollegelifetobecolorfulandmeaningful.Sometimestheyjustdon’tknowhowtorealizeit.Ontheotherhand,therearestillamajorityofstudentssurfingtheInternetforkillingtime.Andthetimetheyuseforexercisingandactivitiesislessnow.Aimedatsolvingtheseproblems,wegivesomesuggestionsinPart4.
4.Suggestions
Planningandbeingconsciousabouthowyouspendyourfreetimeallowsyoutoaccomplishmoreevenwhenyou'reonvacation.Ifyoufindyourselfwithsomefreetimeinyourhands,herearesomeideasonhowtomakethemostoutofit.Beactive.Sportsandexercisemaybeconsideredrecreational,buttheyareveryimportantbecausetheyhelpyoubeenergizedsothatyoumaybeabletoaccomplishmoreactivities.
Listyourdailyobjectives.WithalistofthetasksyouwanttocompleteeachdayyouwillbelesslikelytospendidletimesurfingtheInternetorwatchingtelevision.Giveyourselfacertainamountoft
