ThestorycausedasensationinAmerica,andweresoonsyndicated(供许多报纸同时发表)tonewspapersallovertheworld.Scientistswereskepticalabouttheinformation,butitseemsthatnoonepointedoutthattheEdinburghJournalofSciencedidn'tactuallyexist.Therehadbeenamagazinewiththatnamebutithadcloseddownmorethantenyearsbefore.
