  asstudents,wecouldsharemoretimewithourfriends.thefriendshipinouryoungheartsispure,freshandsimple.ioftenfeelveryluckytohavealotofgoodfriends.especiallywhenihadjustinasoneofmybestfriends.justinwasmyenglishteacherfromtheusa.imethimin1996wheniwasastudentwhocouldonlyspeakverylittleenglish.justinwasavividyoungmanwithabrightsmileonhisface,andhealwayshadhisspecialwaytomaketheclassactiveandattractive.hetaughtusenglishbytellingstories,playinggames,singingsongs,andevendancing.

  icouldstillrememberveryclearlythatoneafternoonwhenwefin-ishedourclass,wewenttosomeotherclassestosingsongsforthem,justlikewhatpeopledointhestatesonchristmaseve.itwassointerestingandunforgettable.justinwasanexcellentteacher,becausehetaughtusnotonlyhowtostudyenglishwell,butalsothewaytofindoutthebeautyoftheworldandthewaytobeangelstoothers'lives.iknowtherewasfriendshipandpureloveinourhearts.facingthisvaluableemotionneithernationalitynoragewasimportant,therealimportancelayinfaith,under-standing,andcare.justinisthebestfriendihaveeverhad,andiknowiwillcherishthosedaysofstayingtogetherwithhimasthebestpartofmymemory.

  friendshipisakindoftreasureinourlives.itisactuallylikeabottleofwine,thelongeritiskept,thesweeteritwillbe.itisalsolikeacupoftea.whenwearethirsty,itwillbeourbestchoice,butwhenwehaveenoughtimetoenjoyourselves,itisalsothemostfragrantdrink.

  however,inthisfast-developingmodernsociety,therealityisnotthat.moreandmorepeopleforgettoenjoythebeautyoflifeand-thebeautyoffriendship.theyworkhardinordertogainahigherposition,inthesocietyandtoearnmoremoneyfortheirwork.ofcourse,wedon'tdenythatitisimportanttofindabet-terplaceinourlives,butwewishmoreandmorepeoplecouldpayalittlemoreattentiontothemselvesandtheirfriends.allofushavetosparesometimeforpersonallives.wehavetofindthechancetoexpressouremotionandlove.whenstayingwithourfriends,wecanreleaseourselvescompletely.wecandowhateverwewant,wecanlaughtogether,talktogether,andevencryto-gether.ishouldsaythatbeingtogetherwithourbestfriendsisthemostwonderfulmomentofourlives.

  asweknow,wewouldfeellonelyifwedidn'tevenhaveafriend.butitdoesn'tmeanwecoulddependonourfriendsallthetime.thereisafamousmottosayingthat“afriendislikeaquiltwithcottonwadding,buttherealthingthatkeepsyouwarmisyourowntemperature.”itisreallytrue.wehavetoworkhardtogetherwithourfriends,encourageeachotherandhelpeachother.whenwereceiveloveandfriendship,weshouldrepayasmuchaswecan.

  Whenyou’regloomy,atruefriendcancommunicatewithyou,thengiveyousomeadvice,andmakeyousmile.Whenyou’rehappy,atruefriendishappy,too.Ifyoudon’tfeelwell,atruefriendwillaskyouwhatthematterisandtakecareofyou.Ifyoudosomethingwrong,atruefriendwilltellyouitisn’trightandwhatiscorrect.Atruefriendwillstaywithyouifyouwantsomehelp.Atruefriendwillforgiveyouifyouhaveanargument.What’smore,whenyougetgoodgrades,atruefriendwillbeveryexcited,butnotbejealousofyou.Whetherrichorpoor,atruefriendshipneverchanges.Soinmyopinion,thisisatruefriendship.Ialsobelievewewillbetruefriends.That’sall!

  Friedshipisbothasourceofpleasureandacomponentofgoodhealth.Poeplewhohaveclosefiredsnaturallyenjoytheircompany.Ofequalimportancearetheconcreteemotionalbenefitstheyderive.Whensomethingsensationalhappenstous,sharingthehappinessoftheoccasionwithfriedsintensifiesourjoy.Conversely,intimesoftroubleandtension,whenourspiritsarelow,unburdeningourworriesandfearstocompassionatefriendsalleviatesthestress.Moreover,wemayevengetsomepracticalsuggestionsforsolvingaparticularproblem.

  Adolescenceandoldagearethetwostagesinourliveswhentheneedforfriendshipiscrucial.Intheformerstage,olderpeopleareupsetbyfeelingsofuselessnessandinsignificance.Inbothinstances,friendscanmakeadramaticdifference.Withclosefriendsintheirlives,peopledevelopcourageandpositiveattitudes.Teenagershavethemoralsupporttoasserttheirindividuality;theelderlyapporoachtheiradvaancedyearswithoptimismandaninterestinlife.Thesepositiveoutlooksarevitaltocopesuccessfullywiththecrisesinherentinthesetwostagesoflife.

  Throughoutlife,werelyonsmallgroupsofpeopleforlove,admiration,respect,moralsupport,andhelp.Almosteveryonehasa"network"offriends:

co-workers,neighbors,andschoolmates.Whilebothmenandwomenhavesuchfriends,evidenceisaccumulatingthatindicatesmenrarelymakeclosefriends.Menaresociableandfrequentlyhavenumerousbusinessacquaintances,golfbuddies,andsoon.However,firendshipdoesnotmerelyinvolveasharingofactivities;itisasharingofselfonaverypersonallevel.Customatily,menhaveshiedfroemcloserelationshipsinwhichtheyconfideinothers.Bybottlinguptheiremotions,mendeprivethemselvesofahealthyoutletfortheirnegativetefeeling.

  Peoplechoosesomefriendsbecausethyarefuntobewith;they"Mekethingshappen".Likewise,commoninterstsappeartobeasignificantfactorinselectingfriends.Familieswithchildren,forinstance,tendtogravitatetovardfamilieswithchildren.Itisnormaltobefriendpeoplewhohavesimilarlifestyles,andorganizationssuchasParentswithoutPartnershaveappearedonopportunitytosocialize,makenewacquaintanceandfriends,obtainhelpfuladviceinadaptingsmoothlytoanewlifesyle.Othergroupsfocusonspecificinterstsuchascamingorpolitics.Itisperfectlyacceptabletoselectfriendsforspecialqualitiesaslongasthereisabalancedgivingandtakingthatismutuallysatisfying.

  Verycloesandtrustedfriendsshareconfidencescandidly.Theyfeelsecurethattheywillnotberidiculedorderided,andtheirconfidenceswillbebonored.Betrayingatrustisaveryquickandpainfulwaytoterminateafriedship.

  Asfriendshipssolidify,tiesstrengthen.Intimaterelationshipsenrichpeople'life.Somecomponentsofathrivingfriendshiparehonesty,naturalness,thoughtfulness,andsomecommonintersts.

  Circumstanceandpeopleareconstantlychanging.Somefriedshipslast"forever";othersdonot.Nerertheless,friendshipisanessentialingredientinthemakingofahealthful,rewardinglife.
