“SmallbusinessistheengineofjobcreationintheUSeconomy,”saidKenChenault,theCEOofAmericanExpress.“Itisalsoamongthesectors(领域)hardesthitbytheeconomiccrisis.ByspreadingthewordaboutSmallBusinessSaturday,wecanhelpraiseawarenessaboutthecriticalrolesmallbusinessesplayincitiesandtownsacrossthecountryatatimewhentheyneedsupportthemost.”

MayorBloombergsaid,“Smallbusinessesarethegluethatholdscommunitiestogether,andwe’vealwayssoughtnewwaystosupportthem—somethingthatbecameevenmoreimportantwhenthenationaleconomicdownturnbegan.WhenKenChenaulttoldmeabouthisideaforSmallBusinessSaturday,Ijumpedattheopportunitytoparticipate.Thisyear,ifyouhavetheopportunitytoshopontheSaturdayafterThanksgiving,makeitapointtovisitlocalsmallbusinesses.Itreallycanmakeanenormousdifferenceformerchantstryingtosucceed.”
