“蒸汽朋克”美学来源于维多利亚时代的服饰以及蒸汽动力机械，这种风格以怀旧的服装款式、嵌满齿轮的小配饰著称。

插画艺术。

任何一位艺术家都可从中发现大量值得描绘的内容：

飞艇与拉风的舰长，摇晃着隆隆作响的战争机器，或是背着火箭包的大胡子英雄。

 飞船船长

      很多小说都涉及了战争，但是蒸汽朋克小说里加了很多新花样，让国家之间的冲突变得异常吸引人。

飞船、凝固汽油弹、火箭包、坦克、机器人都可以加入大军与敌人作战。

有些小说中战争还是老样子：

用蒸汽动力的毛瑟枪和火箭炮交替发射弹药。

但是在大部分故事中战争场面更加混乱：

大战役的中心位置总是巨型的战争机器，给蒸汽朋克插画带来骇人的视觉效果。
