Thedebateoverwhethergraffitiisartordeliberatedamageisstillgoingon.PeterVallone,aNewYorkcitycouncilor,thinksthatgraffitidonewithpermissioncanbeart,butifitisonsomeoneelse’spropertyitbecomesacrime.“Ihaveamessageforthegraffitidestroyersoutthere,”hesaidrecently,“andyourfreedomofexpressionendswheremypropertybegins.”Ontheotherhand,Felix,amemberoftheBerlin-basedgroupReclaimYourCity,saysthatartistsarereclaimingcitiesforthepublicfromadvertisers,andthatgraffitirepresentsfreedomandmakescitieslivelier.
